Visited on a Friday night in early December and immersed in fantastic vibes. The beer was top-notch, the holiday decorations added a festive touch, and the lively atmosphere with college students enjoying corn hole and pool created a vibrant scene. While discovering the entrance somewhat serendipitously by following someone who knew the way, we were pleasantly surprised by the spacious, open, and inviting industrial setup – quintessentially Rhode Island. Ideal for a college area, the brewery's dimly lit ambiance perfectly suited our birthday celebration. A definite return is on the horizon; this place left a lasting impression.

There needs to be a manager on site at all times and I’m honestly shocked that there isn’t, especially on weekends. I came today and watched a group of easily 20 children throw pool balls at each other while their parents sat on their phones and talked to each other and did nothing to actually parent. Not only are the kids damaging private property, but what in gods name were these parents expecting to happen if one of the kids got hit in the face with the pool balls they were throwing? And to the owners, I wouldn’t be surprised if one day these neglectful parents sue you for allowing their children to have open access to your pool table where they got hurt. Change your policy or your layout, you pick, but this is a nightmare waiting to happen. They were also loudly yelling which, surprise, travels in an industrial building until you’re in a wind chamber of screaming children. A woman behind the bar tried to get the children to stop but could not control them without the support of their parents. The woman and another man behind the bar were saying that they wished they had a manager to help them with the situation. I came to leave a review about this and saw someone else complaining about a nearly identical situation a week ago. Not sure how often Whalers allows kids to run around like a playground without the help of a manager on site, but the employees behind the bar clearly need the assistance of an authority figure if this is happening frequently. My girlfriend works for a brewery, we frequent many different ones and travel extensively to try new ones, and while I understand breweries are family friendly locations, I’ve never seen one treated like a daycare like this. And that is being GENEROUS because I was once a preschool teacher for two different RI towns and my children were better behaved than this. We have been to 50+ brewery locations around the country and I have never seen something like this. I am a Rhode Island native, I LOVE the rising beer, but from now on I will stick to ordering it in restaurants. What a shame, as the biggest brewing name in RI you would expect far more from this location. I’m honestly embarrassed I brought out of state guests into this knock off chuck e. cheese, at least we could have played games at a real chuck e. cheese.

TO BE CLEAR: this is NO fault of the employees, they did the best they could with the circumstances. MANAGEMENT, YOU need to STEP UP. it’s unacceptable to leave your employees as babysitters while you aren’t even around your own business to help them.

I love the diverse environment that this brewery offers. However, I am shocked that the both the female and male single room bathrooms do not have a baby changing table. I saw several families with young children with them to enjoy an outing. Why is there not a safe and clean option for them to take care of them? There is plenty of room in the bathrooms! This needs to change.

This brewery is in a super cool location, but parking can be a challenge if it's busy. I wasn't impressed with the tap selection, I was hoping for a bit of diversity. Given the number of craft breweries around now I was expecting a barrel-aged or something funky, but instead it was a simple and okay menu if you like a decent 5% beer. Merch was cool but way overpriced. Bathroom situation is not good if it's busy - single stall rooms per sex. Family friendly, dog friendly.

A rugged brewery in a converted mill. Very rustic atmosphere with a friendly staff. Dog friendly! Great beers, especially the East Coast IPA. Lots of room inside for big groups and plenty of bar games for everyone (including a few pool tables!). It would be nice to have some on-site food (maybe a food truck?).

Solid beers and Seltzers. Nice atmosphere if a little dark. Lots of space and lots of various games.

This place rocks! HUGE space. Hard to find, but a huge tasting room. Their beers are amazing, too. Bartenders are nice and if you rate them on Untappd, you get a free sticker. They only had 6 beers on tap, though. I do want to try more. But it’s close to home and if they rotate often, I’ll be back. Cheers! 🍻
