Edit: I am a man who lived in a property managed by them 4 years ago. The response is typical and inaccurate. Apparently they have enough problems with their clients they get them confused.

Worst rental experience I have ever had. Upon moving out my family completed walk through with their representative. Everything was fine. They then kept our security deposit and tried billing me for repairs on the 100 year old property that needed tending to before I ever resided there. The woman in the office was insufferable. She commented I should’ve been a lawyer, which I concluded that a tenant may need to retain a lawyer after renting from them. I had to successfully dispute unauthorized charges on my credit score from their attempt to bill me after moving out. Total slumlords.

We were tenants of Scott Properties for 2 years and with 22 years of renting experience, they were by far the BEST property management company I’ve ever experienced. Jada in particular was fabulous! Anytime I put in any service request, she had it assigned within a few hours! Her communication was top-notch and all contact we had with Scott Properties was great! I can’t recommend them highly enough!

Update: I saw the response to my review. First of all, I am HE, not “her”. Second, the person replying is a liar. I have NEVER called their company…for any reason. Maybe, just maybe they aren’t responsible for the junk mailers, but lying to salvage a review is totally on them.

This company (Andrew and his wife) will not stop with junk mailers attempting to buy my house/property. It has been in my family for more than 70 years and is not and will never be for sale!

At move in the unit was disgusting. I had to have them get a cleaning crew out to do the bare minimum to make it even possible to move my stuff in. Not long after, I attempted to get my dog that my grandmother had been watching for me. I was told before moving in that I would just need to pay the pet deposit and apply when I was ready, that wasn't the case. You had to apply AT move in for a pet, even if you werent ready for the pet. I fought it and Scott did help me with this IF I’d give him a good google review. He gloats about his google reviews but bribes away the bad ones. *At move out* I read another review that said to make sure to download all of your portal before your MO date. MAKE SURE YOU DO THIS. you are locked out immediately. When I received my MO letter( attached) there was NO move out inspection provided, just an invoice from a company that had never been on the list of approved vendors provided by Scott Properties multiple times throughout my 2 year stay. An invoice charging me $1032 worth of repairs on a unit that was left in better condition than when i moved in! They were charging to remove an old washer and dryer that was there when i moved in and for yard work that was maintained by the HOA. Scott the owner calls me a liar on the phone stating that "he didn't know what kind of arrangements I had for someone cutting my grass" and when I stated that it had never been cut by me for 2 years he said "well that's probably why it was so much to do the yard" (they inspect 2-3 times a year and I had never been marked for the yard not being cut). After providing email and photo proof, I was able to get Scott Properties to admit they were wrong and needed to adjust my charges. They were charging me to paint a wall in a bathroom with a tiny hole (a hole that was there and on my move in inspection), but they chose not to paint the other bathroom with the same hole (from the doorknob). I went over to the unit and met the new tenant who was nice enough to let me in and take photos and nothing looked different than how I left it. Look at my move-in photos…you’re telling me they all of a sudden cared about paint? I was told at move in that “we don’t paint when people move in or move out”. Calvin stated they needed to paint a wall in the kitchen due to a stain, but HE PERSONALLY marked everything GOOD on my move out report with no mention of a stain or a photo of one. I cleaned every wall in the house and I know there was no stain under a window sill in that kitchen. Im required to provide documents to PROVE im not a liar yet they can’t even extend the same courtesy and provide a photo of damages they're charging for. When I arrived to do my move out inspection, 20 min early, I found that Calvin had already been there and done the walk through without me. When I asked him was there anything to be worried about, he said "the house has been extremely well taken care of i just need to compare paint pictures” With him saying that , i didn't force him to walk through again with me.BIG MISTAKE!!! You can imagine why i was so shocked to receive the invoice of $1032. Scott Properties agreed to lower the charges after fighting with them for THREE days. I ended up having to get in touch with the lawn maintenance company and have them write a letter to PROVE they had been taking care of the yard. I had to go through such measures to prove I wasn't LYING,yet they cant prove that they had to paint a stained kitchen wall. So initially (pictures attached) the invoice was for $1032 and they applied my $750 deposit and $250 nonrefundable pet fee to the invoice saying I owed $32. WOULDN'T YOU KNOW once I got the invoice down to $372.50 and Scott Properties owed ME money, all of a sudden they don't apply the pet fee towards the damages. I have yet to hear back as to why. They had to find ONE MORE way to take money from me!

My move-in and move-out experiences were equally as horrific, so that should tell you something. I added pictures to show MI and MO condition and the letters

Scott Properties is a terrible management company that I wouldn’t ever rent with again nor would I trust with my property. They will find any way out of providing the service that they’re hired to do. We had an appliance that didn’t work upon move in and when we requested to have it fixed they told us it was never part of the lease agreement and they wouldn’t do so, and told us that we weren’t allowed to remove it from the property either. We had a large leak from the fridge that covered the entire kitchen in an inch of water. When trying to get immediate assistance to preserve the house from water damage we were ridiculed and made to jump through hoops to get it resolved. We put towels under the fridge to try and mitigate it and it sat like that for 4 days with wet towels and an inch of water pooled on the floor. They are unresponsive and often rude, and will withhold as much money from security deposits as well. I’m sure they’ll have something to respond about me as a tenant, but the fact is: in my last conversation with them I was yelled at, told they would no longer communicate with me, and hung up on when trying to resolve disputes with withheld amounts of my security deposit. Glad to be rid of them.

The rent goes up every year, which is an inconvenient when your salary doesn't increase. The house I'm renting isn't worth what I'm paying. I've experienced rude customer service from Crissy Clark telling me to vacate if I can't afford the increase. Very rude, unprofessional, and unthoughtful of her. She needs a customer service class or some type of training that will teach her not come out of her mouth with certain things. Very disappointed in this business.

Wow this company is a joke. They managed our rental property in Columbia for 4 years and it was a horrible experience. They would not communicate and would just approve tenant requests without consulting us. It would be a surprise when we got our monthly statement. STAY FAR AWAY! Also the vendors they hire are a joke. See pics of their 'professional' repairs.
