I submitted a request for a building inspection online as a resident because I am remodeling my bathroom. It's been over a month with no response back from an inspector. Every time I call the Community Development Department, they tell me their system is down and they cannot help me, but yet I can login and view my "pending" record just fine. By far the worst permit experience ever. Do not remodel your home in Stockton if you need a permit, you will be left with no facilities while waiting for their system to come back online.

A bunch of Californian Tyrants. Leave the flag alone and go fight real issues. Instead of crying because someone didn't pay you to show their freedom of freedom, speech or whatnot. I'm sure there is a trailer somewhere with zero under pinning you can deal with.

Had a great experience with their online portal but their senior reviewer Greg Davis is the worst! He lets his emotion and pride get in the way of doing his job. Unfortunately, Greg is very proud of his 30 years experience as a mechanical engineer and make it clearly know every time our company gives him a call.
His behavior gets very disgusting and childish whenever you try to debate him, and he is more then will to abuse his power and position at the building department to make people’s live difficult. Very disgusting individual.
One example: We reach out to greg 2 weeks after missed completion date for round 2 review. Our team and I tried to hold ourselves together as we listened to him complain about txt size and window schedule labeling that had no issues at all. But he insisted that his 30 years experience as a mechanical engineer proves other wise and continued to degrade me and our team on the phone call. When we challenged him on the correction he reacted with anger and triggered an entire second revision to fix txt size of three word. Very unprofessional behavior on the behave of this senior plan reviewer at San Joaquin Building department and an extreme level of abuse of power. Otherwise everyone one else I encountered at the building department was fantastic and very responsive.

The hours of operation need to be updated. They are closed on Saturdays-

Monday to Thursday
8am to 12pm
1pm to5pm

Friday
8am to 12pm

The business hours posted on the front says 8:00am to 12:00pm. It’s say 11:50am and they’re closed. They need to be consistent with they’re hours and not close at whatever time they feel like it.

Some policies and requirements may be a bit crazy, but the staff will work with you and walk you through every step. I can weirdly say I had a great experience with county permitting.
