I've lived in four different apartments in Charleston, but I've never had this many issues getting things fixed. The entire building smelled for over a month, and I dealt with mold in my closet for just as long—all because a simple ventilation issue went unaddressed. Even after acknowledging the problem, it still took them three weeks to fix it. Once resolved, the issues stopped, but the damage was already done. To make matters worse, they were blatantly rude, telling me, and I quote, "Everyone is dealing with these problems, stop complaining." Their lack of responsiveness and disregard for tenants' quality of life is completely unacceptable.

After 3 years of being a tenant in the same home, $1455 in our security deposit was kept for items that were blatantly untrue. Out of that, I attempted to dispute only some charges that I without a doubt know, were not sufficient. I am an honest tenant, mother, with a stable employment track record, and to be told lies by this company and being held liable for things that should not be is unacceptable. Charged for light bulbs being out (never one had a lightbulb blown in that house), excessive paint charges after we painted every room with documented photos upon vacating, excessive charges for vacuuming when that was the last thing we did before closing the door behind us, broken items that were noted on multiple inspection reports prior… the landlords even praised us for the upkeep of the home and how well we took care of it that they didn’t even raise the rent on the following lease. I am clean, tidy, courteous and take care of my home and belongings. We did not leave that house in worse condition than we arrived, we actually improved many things like professionally painting the entire interior when we moved in for it to be a neutral and cohesive space that actually upgraded the home for the long term! Do tenants who do that really sound like people who would leave a home in bad condition? I think not.

After many attempts to gain proof of the “damages” they claim, or services that were “needed” (at astronomical amounts may I add), they disregard your requests. They ignore your questions and they certainly will not do their due diligence to help prove that maybe you are being truthful and that there is merit to your concerns with the allegations presented. They have been difficult to work with for many years and are solely out to disregard any possible wrong doing on their part.

Do not rent with this company and do not list your home under their care if you want good tenants that will stay long term. Countless reviews expressing similar experiences, speak for themselves.

Tara has been amazing to myself and my business on King Street! Whenever there is a problem she addresses it immediately; literally within 5 minutes. I’m on her lease for the next 5 year and I’m grateful to have her as my property manager.

They won’t answer your phone calls, texts, or voicemails. They will charge you THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS A MONTH, to give you lackluster renovations to other properties but your own. I have sent multiple requests over a hole in the outside of my house to which THEY CLAIM RESPONSIBILITY FOR REPAIRING. However they never repair it, giving excuses like a mechanic or whoever needs to evaluate the damage. Well it’s been over a year with this issue and still has not been resolved. The HOA doesn’t enforce its own parking decals so people fill up the parking spaces and I end up walking 3-5 minutes from my front door to my car. I got this house thinking it would be a great opportunity for me and for the most part it has been but god knows I will never be getting another place under the Meridian residential group and I’ll be sure to know exactly what type of HOA I’ll have to deal with cause this is a straight up robbery.

I've lived here almost a year; there were about 10 people 'finishing' up my apartment on the morning I was supposed to move in. They've never improved the landscaping so it looks trashy around my unit; abandoned cars seem to pile up in the parking lot. Maintenance requests take an unreasonable amount of time to be addressed because Meridian is probably too cheap to hire more employees. My electric bills have been sky-high because they haven't replaced an old blower unit, and I'm still waiting for them to address THAT. It's highly probable that they skip necessary inspections--my wife had a termite issue she tried to resolve a week ago and has heard from NO ONE. Contacting Meridian is a complete hassle; don't believe their 'mission statement'--Tara, the property management owner, is unprofessional, giving excuses when confronted, and flat-out ignores emails and/or takes her time getting back to you (if ever). The only good people working have left since I moved in--office help and maintenance workers included.
Avoid living under Meridian at all costs--because it will cost you.

Emergency phone at the pool has been down for weeks. The pool JUST OPENED and now it's down again. The side of our condo is rotting. Nobody will call us back. Lived here for 10 years and they have never solved a problem. This whole place is a joke, honestly 🤷‍♀️

I had a horrible experience with the management. You can NEVER get a hold of anyone that works there and they NEVER call you back about maintenance or leasing issues or to get your security deposit back. I have emailed and call countless amount of times and have NEVER been contacted. As far the experience I had while living there the apartment was very moldy in the bathroom and the floor was rotting away and never fixed after canceling 2 maintenance request about it. Very unprofessional and unorganized and way too expensive for what the apartment really is and the lack of communication from management.
