For several years I have been receiving unsolicited calls and mail from Lyon Stahl company despite making dozens of requests to be taken off their call list and mail list. Today I received a call from “Sam” who when told again that I want to be taken off their mail list just went on about how he wants to share some information about investment property etc. and that he’s “just doing his job by calling me…” Since this company can’t even seem to respect a person privacy and take them off of their call and mail list after dozens of requests then I would never trust them to handle my multi- million dollar transaction.

I had a wonderful experience working with Brett Lyon selling a small apartment building. Brett helped me with recommendations to get the building in better condition to sell, and then waited two years for me to list it. He always took my calls, gave me good advise, and used his vast network of contacts to refer me to services to improve the building. Once it was listed, we had multiple offers and the building went under contract quickly with a solid buyer. Lyon Stahl handled everything and escrow was very smooth. Simply put, I am filing a complaint against Lyon Stahl principals Woody Stahl and Brett Lyon with the Department of Real Estate for gross negligence for their property management arm of Lyon Stahl called Fortify Property Management. I also have experienced the same culture of lying and a revolving door with personnel at their investment real estate company. I passed on listing 4 buildings with them. I found it too risky to put a high dollar transaction with a company that has the top guys not acting in integrity and that culture continuing at their companies.

The Lyon and Stahl principles claim the management co when they want to get your business and hide behind being ‘passive investor’s when there were failings. Brett wrote that he was a “passive investor” when confronted with gross negligence at his management company. Woody completely ducked any communication or acknowledgement and did nothing. Past employees and LLC business filings confirm they are both active Fortify Property Management principles. The lack of integrity continued when I was shopping my properties around to sell. One of their agents flat out lied about having investors and offers coming in. He didn’t have his story straight when I queried him and uncovered his fabrications. The Lyon Stahl agent I did like left the company. He tried repeatedly to assist me to get help with Brett and Woody and the failing management co. Brett and Woody’s responses to challenges was to duck or make a promise and not deliver. This culture is forefront at their property management co and from what I experienced, with the investment real estate side as well. Don’t risk going with them, go to one of the top companies that is reputable.

Brett Lyon and his team represented me on the purchase of my first investment property in El Monte.
