Rachel was no help as I had to reach out for over a month in order for us to even get our security deposit back. Our apartment flooded and she tried to argue with me saying it would only take 1-2 weeks to be repaired as that was not the case. Having to deal with all of this wouldn’t have been so bad if it was just through the owner and not Help-U-Rent. I would not recommend ever renting from these people unless they fire Rachel and change the way they handle these situations.

I rented a unit in Jackson Blvd. in Spearfish. Everything was good until they were supposed to refund the deposit to me. They cut $120 for cleaning expenses. I paid extra $200 for carpet cleaning which is normally $50 if you get a rental vacuum cleaner. But based on their policy, you have to pay this by calling Captain Clean. Before I leave my unit, I kept everything clean, but still $120 cut. Will this message change anything? No. Because people need their units and they do not need customer satisfaction which has been 1.6 so far.

Borderline scammers. Spoke with Rachel and she provided two dates to look at an apartment, we couldn’t do those dates because of work. She was extremely pressuring about a first come first serve basis and said to just put in an application and go from there. Submitted application & $950 security deposit. Received very vague email we were approved then got a call a few days later saying the lease docs were ready. I told them I wouldn’t sign the lease without seeing the place first and DEALBREAKER, she wouldn’t let us see it at all. Once I pointed out that we hadn’t agreed to not seeing the place at all she lied and said they “typically” didn’t allow it but said we could look at the place, she never said this.They won’t give our security deposit back either…

If you could avoid using this site to rent I would! Rachel lied to me about first come first serve when I was supposed to get my friend, who was moving out, apartment unit. She said it was “first come first serve” which I understand. Well she lied to me about that and never posted the listing/application online. And gave the unit away to someone else! When I was clearly in contact with her about the unit. I had a down payment, first month, etc. And she still gave the unit away to someone else without my knowledge as I was desperately waiting for the application to come available.

Man I’m sure glade I read these reviews today, because I was getting ready to give them a $1650 deposit simply to start the application process. I did think this was a little odd, I get and totally understand paying the application fee but then typically you don’t give the deposit until you’ve been approved. So I decided to do a little digging, looked them up and read the reviews. I think I’ll just keep my money and look elsewhere don’t really make a habit of being taken advantage of and ripped off… All the reviews are pretty well what I’ve been experiencing. It takes them forever to get back with me, and when they do I ask them a straightforward question and you get a very vague response.

I’ve rented a lot of places due to my job but this company is one for the books. We have lived in our unit for a year now. They raised the rent and at my past rentals they would either change the rent amount in the portal for you or send reminders about changing the amount so that rent could be paid in full on time. Well, not here. Didn’t say anything. We paid our rent on time but the old amount, so we owed $125 and then they slapped on a $150 LATE FEE… then they didn’t call they just applied a late fee and then told us to pay that. $150 LATE FEE, we have never been late or missed a payment but without that $150 late fee is asinine. They sneak those late fees in there where ever they can collect, So heads up there. Oh another thing, we have two buildings full of units and two little circle dumpsters that are constantly over flowing. It smells and there is constantly trash everywhere since animals will get into it.

We email, we call, no response.

101% agree to all these negative comments! We rentes at Jackson Heights for almost 5yrs. In less than a year they took 2 of our bicycles that was park outsied with chain on without notice. No letter or notice. That building that we are staying is a 50 to 60 years old building or maybe more, so expect that there's a lot of damages. Water faucet will easily break, etc. Also just last winter the heater inside the bathroom is not working so I notified them about the problem but it took 3 days for their maintenance guy to check the heater and worst is he did not fix it instead they told me that it will take 1 week or 2 for them to replace the thermostat. So me and family are freezing everytime we used the bathroom for two weeks because of their damaged or broken heater. Not only that, when we decide to move out they never give us the deposit refund. These people dont have conscience. Do not trust them! I will NEVER recommend this company!

I'm an 8 year resident at Jackson heights apartments in Spearfish. I submitted my notice to vacate on 6/17 to be out by 7/17. On 7/3 full month rent taken from my bank account.
on 7/6 I get a call from them telling me I owe 50 dollars more for rent because my rent went up after they had the vacate notice for 3 weeks and rent already pulled for the month they are trying to charge me extra for. I never recieved any notice about rent increase no call no note on my door just a call 3 days after rent was pulled.Also I'm told I need to shampoo the carpet which I know will be pulled out for remodeling. Bottom line...DONT USE HELP U RENT THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!! P.S they also have double standards I was told it is a pet free building and my friend couldn't even bring her dog in but there is someone living there that has 2 dogs...one last thing they do all business on line so they can avoid you unless they want something from you.
