There’s some good staff in there but it seems like they are powerless and can’t really do anything.
Quality of living declined a lot in the past year. There’s no way to get out of the leases.
Overall it’s just not worth the price.
The one star reviews are true. The 5 star reviews are for rewards. They have happily accepted over $2,700 from me for a vacant room because I graduated early. Just trying to help someone out and be transparent.

I wouldn’t ever choose to live here, and has honestly swayed me away from apartments. I’ve had a terrible experience, and know others do too.

To start off they do provide you with the crappiest furniture known to man. The couches are awful and PEEL. It looks like a crack house couch after about a week. You want to put ur own furniture in? you have to find a way to store it. So paying MORE!

Staff is NOT going to go out their way for you at all, but not rude. I had a property manager unlock and walk in my bedroom door because of an issue with the other person’s lease. Claimed it was to “see if I was home.” Only reason I even knew she went in my room was because I lock my door everyday, and she didn’t lock it back. Probably because it has to be pushed a certain way to lock because everything here works at about 75%. Even my door to my apartment has to be pulled to latch the lock. Also if you get lucky to not even have a roommate you’ll just get a $200 dollar electric bill for a space that you can’t even use.

The stove, dishwasher, and washer have all broken completely in the year I’ve been here. Not to say it’s maintenance men completely, but it’s a mixture of them and whatever reason it takes them 2 weeks to get a part. Sometimes it takes 1 day, others takes closer to a month.

Also if you are wondering about water pressure/hot water its NOT good. I’m in a 2 bed, and if I just did dishes or ran a load of towels on hot, can’t take a shower and if you do better be 10 mins or less. Then, even when you do get in and no hot water has been used you got about 20-30 mins IF THAT. You literally can’t fill the tub more than half way before it’s cold.

Most of the apartments I see here are mainly carpet.. this carpet has been professionally cleaned, I have bought a carpet shampoo thing and it is always just nasty. Any time I clean it I’m disgusted. Don’t be fooled nothing is renovated or new in the actual apartments, just where staff stays is renovated.

The garbage disposal/dishwasher mechanism has not ever worked correctly. Had enough water to flood the floor below me come from that dishwasher at least 4 times.
My washer has been out for almost 2 weeks currently. First it was “y’all are getting a new washer it’ll come by next Wednesday” then comes next Wednesday and it’s “oh well we ordered a part it should be here by tomorrow.” Still hasn’t come, and honestly would rather just buy a washer myself, and pay to have it installed. I live on the third story with no elevator so it’s not convenient to deal with.
As for the stove, it actually caught on fire the first day I moved in. It has sent up sparks, and overall just takes forever to heat up. It’s not balanced and my pans slide around.
Before I got here the girl who stayed in my apartment told me the dryer went out. She called to see if she could be reimbursed the $100 she’s spent at a laundromat. They said no. Which that’s understandable if it was a few days - 1 week, but 2 weeks or more is so crazy.

The most inconvenient thing is this digital key. I had a physical one when I got here and it was way better. It’s like if ur phone isn’t charged & you get locked out the only thing you can do is knock on everyone’s door until someone lets you use their phone. The only way I’ve seen someone get a permanent code, which they lied to me and said wasn’t even possible, it’s been someone who doesn’t use an apple phone. So bring an old android and let them think it doesn’t work with the key app and you’ll get a permanent code.

Overall, you realize you pay about 1600 bucks for this. 1600 is the most I’ve ever paid, and this is the worst I’ve ever lived. My roommate pays more for the smaller room/bathroom.

Staff is friendly (not to be mistaken with helpful)
The pool is seemingly always closed.
Internet is always off.
Plumbing guys may show up for a week and you’ll have to shower at the gym.
2/3 of the rooms could be vacant for months and you will still somehow get electrical overages.
Want to leave? (You know like most students do after they transfers schools or graduate) good luck. I recommend faking your own passing. May be the only way out of the lease.
Just a joke of an apartment. The sad part is, if they just ran their apartment like student housing, it could be a 3-4 star. But they do not. Most people that were looking for housing when i was chose somewhere alot worst than GV simply because they heard so much about management being greedy, and unhelpful.

The internet constantly goes out, and the building manager (Nikki) does not listen to complaints and is quite rude! Plus, they say they divide overages by apartments, but that’s not true. It’s by building. So go ahead and add $35 to your rent in overages, even when you’re not at the apartment for half the month.

The internet constantly goes out and no matter what you do you will always have overages even if you don’t have anything turned on or plugged up you can expect at least 30 dollars worth of overages and there was this one time they charged me over 200 dollars worth of overages and tried to blame it on the leak we had in the apartment when it was actually the air conditioning dropping super low and they wouldn’t do anything to fix that either so if I were you I would stay away from gamecock unless it is your last option.

Overall I really love gamecock, as every apartment building it has things it improve on. However, I think it is the best apartment complex I could have found for the price. The best part is how kind and friendly the staff are, they really take the time to listen to help. The only bad thing I've experienced living here is having a hard time parking close to your building.

I have called to speak to the manager every day for the last 4 weeks. With no response
We have been trying to get out of 2024 lease that we signed prematurely. We were scared into signing it because of limited housing in Jacksonville. Now we can’t get out of it because the management company keeps telling us that they are not @ 100% occupancy.
Right now my opinion is they do what to make money and don’t care
