I had a great experience with Jay and Al who came to fix a water main leak in the condo association I am a part of. They both were promptly on time, very personable, funny and went above what was expected of them. The condo association is a mess when it comes to piping, electrical, etc as it is all over the place. Knowing the tough task at hand, they both did their best in making sure they fixed everything and even fixed additional problems along the way. They were knowledgeable about what they were fixing and how to fix it and came up with many solutions during the obstacles they faced throughout their many hours of a visit. I would hands down work with them again and even request for them to come out to the property again in the event of an issue. Great employees that this company is lucky to have working for, and representing, them.

RACIST.Horrible company. If I could give ZERO stars I would. Unresponsive isn’t even the word. Called 3 weeks ago with water damage that they’re responsible for and have yet to hear back. Called about a fee unknowingly put on my account for a fine that is justifiable but they refuse to call back. Discriminate based upon board member preferences and relationships in the community. STILL HAVENT RECEIVED A CALL BACK

Would not use the services these people provide. Hired them to fix a gas fire place that they said they could fix. The technician showed up, had no measurement equipment to determine if the gas valve or Thermocouple was functioning. No way did he have the equipment to repair the fire place but still charged me anyway. They may be fine for average handyman work but not something like this. My advice, use reputable and ethical professionals.

It's been many years since I had to deal with this company, but because recently I've been hearing horror stories I felt it necessary to affirm the dissatisfaction. They are totally inept and irresponsible, obviously having time to refute bad reviews and not actually complete any pressing work.

For example, in the winter of 2010, my condo one day was freezing. I asked them--our property managers at the time--to come investigate. They ended up replacing my digital thermostat for an analog one and left it at that. Although I continued to report dangerously cold temperatures, they didn't act again. I discovered that our boiler was malfunctioning and had to coordinate the repairs. Oh, and I still got a bill for an outdated thermostat that I didn't need.

When we fired them, they failed to reroute bills to us. Consequently, one day last year, we were slammed with a massive sewer charge because we weren't receiving the bills and had no idea.

Without enumerating further examples of their horrible service, I simply advise you to avoid hiring them.

Also, note, our property is a privately owned condominium, not a low-budget rental by any means.

Haven't had any issues with them. The apartment I'm renting is beautiful and it is a GREAT deal for how much they charge me for rent. They always respond to me in a timely manner and provide next day maintenance.

One thing to note is that they are sort of a "budget" rental company...so take the other reviews with a grain of salt...a lot of people don't write reviews unless they feel very strongly one way or the other. Since they don't go out of their way to do anything super generous (thereby increasing cost & rent) you can't expect there to be many ecstatic reviews...I think they do just fine at their job and I appreciate a property management company trying to keep rent low.

EDIT: After 1 year they have begun to disappoint me. Part way through my lease they started charging me posthumously for "water" and "sewage" - utilities which were not mentioned to me at all before I signed the lease.

It took them 23 days to send me form to add a roommate to my lease. I emailed, left voicemail - no callback. I walked in and spoke to a guy who said he would email me the forms within the hour - got nothing. It's been extremely frustrating as if they're stalling on purpose.

EDIT2: These people are terrible. They kept my security deposit ($1200) for leaving nice drapes behind - which they initially told would be fine. I’m disgusted that they treat humans like this. Stay away from them, and Woonsocket in general. It’s not worth dealing with people like this.

We moved in here in January of this year...and we cannot wait to get out. The property Management team is rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional towards their tenants. First Choice Propety Management lacks any sense of professionalism. They are utterly incompetent and extremely unhelpful. They show no care for the tenants. I have received numerous rude e-mails when filing complaints and receive no answer on e-mails for a week or longer at a time. I had a property Manage get promoted and no one contacted us to tell us who to start contacting until I complained of being ignored for a week. When we first moved in we had mice and it took weeks to get an exterminator in. When our hot water heater broke (Plumbing issue - covered by Landlord in our lease) they tried to charge for not even fixing it. We have had two ceiling leaks, the trash has gone weeks at a time without being emptied. I would NEVER suggest renting from a property run by First Choice.. NEVER AGAIN.

Jim Desrosiers responds to requests in a timely manner. I requested tech support as I was unable to lock the sliding bolt on the steel back door to my condo. Joe came over and did an excellent job refitting the door and making it more secure. Thanks to them, I can now lock my back door securely.

UPDATE – First Choice has since reached out to me try to correct the numerous deficiencies in their service. While I will update this review to reflect the last 2-3 interactions which have been more positive - I will be leaving the prior review up until everything is complete.

First Choice is the worst property management company I have worked with. The techs are the only saving grace.

My experience dealing with First Choice has been so horrendous that it spurred me to run for the board for my association, so I can push to award the contact to another property management company once we are able too.

Any good the maintenance team can do is undone by the unresponsive property managers. Sending anything via email results in a 10-14 day turn around and leaving voicemails is an exercise in futility.

Stay away unless they completely retool the management team. Two of my neighbors’ units were involved in an insurance claim that First Choice opened along with mine - but never informed the unit owners. I keep good documentation as it’s the only way to move forward with places that run like this.
