Incompetent management with established harrassment behavior such as gaslighting, intimidating and dismissing tenant's rights. The manager didn't take liability for their own staff/ maintenance worker's damage to your rental or violation of laws- gaslit you that it would be your problem feeling unsafe and that property damage caused by their worker "didn't violate your tenant rights."
Do not rent any place managed by this company. Will save you peace of mind.

The management company is absolutely atrocious. It is nearly impossible to get a response from people. Our building was left without hot water and *I* spent MY weekend getting it fixed for our building, they left zero emergency contact information and left the residents high and dry. I went into their office to inform them, and Manuel, Gaby and Silvia ganged up on me and told me that they didn’t leave our building without hot water. They repeatedly yelled at me, telling me that I was wrong. I eventually gave them a request for maintenance from the city of West Hollywood, and four months later, there’s still no emergency contact info posted. I have also spent time with Nidia on the phone who expects a medal because she answers your phone call when their system improperly charges you late fees, then tells you that this isn’t her problem and she’s doing you a favor. Nonetheless, she won’t direct you to the correct person who DOES have this responsibility. Yet they gloat about managing over 100 buildings? HOW

As one of many people who has lived at 100 N Sycamore and still has friends in the building, I can tell you it hasn't improved in years.

Sylvia works in the Essential Management office and while she's nice at first to get you in the building, you will never deal with her again until you move out.

Nidia is the building manager for 100 N Sycamore, you will also never see her and you will rarely here from her, even if you politely request help with the bevy of issues that arise from living in an old building in the heart of the city. In the event she does communicate with you, it will likely be nonsensical and ineffective.

For maintenance and fixes of any kind they mostly just pour paint over everything as a solve to any issue. Leak in your ceiling? Paint over it. Drainage issues in your toilet? Dump some paint in there.

It's shocking that Essential Management looks after any building, let alone beautiful historic ones, because their entire philosophy is to make your experience miserable so that you move out quickly and they can hike up the rent again and again without ever properly maintaining or improving the building.

Essential Management Inc has handled our apartment and I have been very happy. It's all about communication and Gaby, the landlord/manager has always been assertive and professional. Anything that goes wrong, she immediately addresses it. The negative reviews posted are likely not of Gaby. If you have any questions or doubts, ask for Gaby and then you decide. People pitching an complaining will do that anywhere. Personally, I am happy, and that's all that matters. Handle my issues and move on. If Gaby didn't do her job, trust me, I would be the one you don't want to get a negative review on. Keep up the great work, Gaby. Essential management is lucky to have you.

Silvia and her team have been working with me from the very beginning. Once I moved in, I was initially discouraged by the work that needed to be done on my "Welcome", but I met them with patience, and they've delivered ever since. They have been on top of addressing any questions or issues that I have. Silvia has even requested that I don't hold my breath, no matter the size of the problem.

It's disappointing hearing the reviews of other experiences, and I can only speak to my own. Don't get me wrong, I could offer a few tips that would've led to a 5-star review, but they've been understanding, accommodating, and willing.

Don't ever rent from this management company. They manage nothing. They are ghosts and when you finally reach someone they are horrendously rude and disrespectful. I understand they probably deal with a lot of challenging people but it's no excuse. I called once at 4:23pm and the nastiest woman, Sylvie, who works there, picked up the phone and said, "We close at 430, try another time" and then hung up on me.

When I reached her again and told her the issue I was having she called me a liar 😂. My mom heard the whole conversation and was flabbergasted.

Nasty people. So happy to never deal with them again. Good riddance.

Essential management is the worst. They most likely hire family members to manage the apartment complex. l've been complaining of Carla and Alexander who are on-site managers of 1250 N Kingsley Dr, LA CA. They smoke in side their apartment day and night since they moved in next to me back in February. I have a toddler who's been complaining of headaches, raspy throat, and nose dryness all due to the second hand smoke that comes inside my apartment. As well as my finance and myself have the same symptoms. My entire apartment is filled with second hand smoke from these managers lack of respect. I can no longer open my windows. Essential Management Inc, Carla, and Alexander are disrupting mine and my family's right to quiet enjoyment. jeopardizing my health and my family's health. I make all of them responsible for my family's health. I've done my part as a mother by speaking up, l've asked the managers to stop smoking inside their apartment and l've escalated to the actual company that manages the property. Essential Management Inc responsible for hiring Carla and Alexander to be the on-sight managers. My concerns are being swept under the rug
I asked to keep all communication through emails but Silvia refused to comply with my rights.
Believe the other reviews. Silvia Sandoval is
condescending, rude, irresponsible. She likes to say that at essential management there's another Silvia working there. Like I said only an imbecile would believe that when her co-worker Nidia gave me Silvia's email address without asking me to what Silvia I spoke to.
I've asked to speak with the Landlord but I have yet to hear from the Landlord. Irresponsible landlord too.

As a mother, I will do anything for my child safety and this matter will not go unheard.

Silvia Sandoval is a nightmare. Besides that you’ll basically have to harass her to get updates she spreads lies and misinformation. She’s a racist individual on top of that. I have no words for this company, I will only rent from the landlord directly if anything. I did a little digging and found so much shady stories of her.
