How is this even up to building code? We purchased an Alabama DSLD home built in 2019 and found burned wood installed into the framing. Not to mention it’s completely separated from the rest of the frame. This is absolutely unacceptable.

This house and DSLD has to be the worst company I have every dealt with, scams from the beginning including their financing, which I am glad I did not fall into that trap. They talked a big game when buying the home about how they take pride in their warranty, which if you thought DR Horton was the bottom of the barrel, wait till you buy a DSLS home. Before I even closed I had many things that were placed on my list to fix and DSLD has never fixed anything, not even one thing on that list. I have a dead lawn which HOA is saying I have to pay to have it replaced and DSLD says by closing on the home I except the grass. I even told them the grass was dead at my walk through and guy said just water it. If you plan on buying a DSLD home make sure you don’t expect to buy a new home but a fixer upper. During recessions and housing crashes this is where DSLD will get flushed out. The whole reason for markets to have a down turn is to flush out the bad companies that do not manage their product well. That is if the government does not bail anyone out. We saw this in 2008 when companies that should have failed would have been flushed out and we would have had a rise of better managed products from other companies. DSLD does not warranty their product and if I wanted a fixer upper home there are plenty of homes to choose from. DSLD has the worst warranty on the market in my opinion and they need to be flushed out in 2022 – 2024.

Update 11/11/22: So I had to replace all the grass in my yard because DSLD laid dead sod. They claimed on BBB that I did not water it, which is a straight-up lie, but what do you expect from a dishonest company. I have proof, it is documented on my closing walk through. Again they are trying to lie to people on BBB website. Anyways I have other neighbors that had to fix roofs and HVAC systems all on their own dime because DSLD does not warranty anything spite what they say to you when you buy. My grass was $8,000 and I had a $1500 roof repair. You better think twice before closing on a DSLD house because your pockets will be drained of any money you have. Now my grass is what it should have been when I purchased a new home thanks to my savings account.

Do not buy a home from DSLD. The houses are beautiful but once you look underneath to the frame there is very poor/cheap work done. Although our home is ok for now we have had to have our HVAC system repaired (air was out for a week during 80 degree weather). Our garbage disposal went out which we never even used it. Items that were documented in 2020 that were needing repaired were never repaired by the builder and we just found out during a 2nd inspection in 2023. There have been numerous neighbors that have had issues with their home. I literally spent all day arguing back and forth with Rebecca at the corporate office about repairs. She is the rudest person I have ever talked to in my entire life. I’m normally not an argumentative person but she should not be allowed to talk to people any kind of way. She should be fired!

Bought a new home from them. They delivered a very nice product on budget and on time. Everyone we have dealt with has been great. It is not a "custom" home but for a production builder I think they do a very good job. I would buy again.

The house itself is ok. But when I closed the sod was virtually dead. They told me then they would replace it if it didn’t get better. Thirty days after closing I was told again they would replace it. Now, they say that I should have done more and therefore they are not at fault and there is no warranty on the sod. Mind you, I have a Masters in Horticulture. From the best school in USA. But this builder thinks he knows more than me! What a joke. He probably didn’t even finish high school. I would advise anyone to never close on one of their houses till all problems have been resolved. They are liars and cheats whenever it serves them best. Please, if you care about plants do not buy ! The landscape plants were things that should be in the garbage. And plants not planted in correct places. I absolutely hate these people. They are liars and cheats

Do not buy a home from DSLD Homes Alabama. I'm relocating to Huntsville, AL for a new position and attempted to purchase a home from DSLD through Candy Holley. We offered to pay asking price which was agreeable, but Candy refused to work with us using a digital contract. To make matters worse, Candy wouldn't even start the paperwork so that we could make it up to Huntsville, AL this weekend from FL to finalize the contract in person.

This company is anti-consumer and inflexible. Candy also mentioned that DSLD has done digital contracting in the past, but wouldn't now and provided no logical explanation.
