We had a really good experience with everyone at commonwealth. The house was nice and any repairs were made in a timely manner. We left the house clean and got our deposit back. I'm not sure what else we could ask for. After purchasing a home we also used them to manage our home. They did a good job and the house was returned in great shape when we moved back.

I thought this would be a good management company as they were very thorough during our walkthrough moving in. However, they have been very unresponsive when we report needs of repairs, such as a badly leaking roof, a light switch that stopped working because of age, and broken plumbing. Often we don’t even get ANY response. Very disappointing.

Edit 10/23, 10 months after original review. Raising from 2 to 2.5 (rounding up to 3 stars) after finally being done dealing with Debi, which is a huge relief. She treated us as if we were below her and tried to blame us for things that had worn out on the home (which is 50 years old and not updated at all). Over Christmas break we returned home after a week being gone with one part of the home being completely flooded, despite an apparent “repair” to the roof. You can imagine what it looked like as we had to pull everything from that part of the home into other areas as we tried to dry the inches of water on the ground. Yet when Debi arrived with 2 buckets (for six separate leaks) she said we were “scaring her” because the condition of the home was not up to her standards. Thinking of her caused stress. Even writing this and still thinking about her, 4 months after we have moved out, is stressful.

During our initial check-out walk through she constantly said different things were not cleaned or needed to be dusted, and my husband would run his finger along these showing we had cleaned it—remember this home is 50 years old so no matter how much you clean it is not going to look sparkling white due to wear. She made comments about a single cobweb outside on a light fixture, whereas when we had moved in the lights were COVERED in cobwebs. As a military family, this was extremely stressful being treated so poorly as we transitioned.

When all was said and done we spent about 50 hours cleaning for check out to meet her standards (which were clearly not met when we moved in), but she was fair in returning our deposit back to us, which was a surprise as many people told us not to expect anything back, and is the single reason I raised my rating half a star.

Debi, I hope we don’t meet again in this life. I hope you don’t take on so many properties to manage, trying to make more money, that you can’t do a good job managing them. But mostly I hope you treat people with dignity and respect and honesty in the future—and that you tell the next tenants that the roof STILL leaks before they move in and it starts raining in December.

I'm relieved to no longer have dealings with this company. Debi raised our rent without any notice, and her unprofessionalism and poor responsiveness made the experience even more frustrating. I strongly advise military personnel against renting from her.
