Was looking for my first apartment in Alameda. Evan R. helped me immensely by showing me a multitude of properties in different price ranges, sizes, and neighborhoods which gave me the luxury to choose the right place for me. He listened to my requests and took the time to understand what it was I wanted in a home then proceeded to show me properties that he thought would be a good fit. Very happy with the service from Cerda-Zein and look forward to being their tenant as they have been nothing but proactive and communicative. 100% would recommend to someone looking for a property to rent.

This agency doesn't deserve 1 star.
Cerda - Zein Real Estate Agency is dirty, this agency creates hardships for tenants in order to evict them.
I have been a tenant for 8 years and my monthly rent payments provided by auto pay with my bank. The property owner has wanted to sell the property but since there's 2 tenants paying below market value for rent it greatly reduces the value.
So this agency in order to evict me created a hardship by not notifying me that they hadn't recieved a rent payment from my bank for 4 months.
They never sent me a notice of non payment or late payment or anything by mail to my residence. I only recieved a text message from Alex telling me I owed thousands of dollars on my account and then I recieved a 3 day notice.
I've maintained this property for 8 years not once did Cerda-Zein or Alex ever make repairs or correct any of the inhabital conditions that exist.
These people are dirty, they don't care about renters or renters rights.
Don't be fooled by 5 star reviews.
Do not do business with this agency!
Especially a dirt bag named Alex.

We had a very positive experience working with Cerda-Zein while looking for a place to stay in Alameda. We worked with Yosef and Angelo and they were prompt, knowledgeable, and good at understanding the type of housing we were looking for. We ended up finding a place we really liked and couldn’t have done it without their help!

CZRE has been my landlord for the past year, and I am very satisfied with my experience. The maintenance staff and support team are friendly and respond quickly to any questions and concerns. I especially appreciate Nicole Thresher as she has been extremely helpful answering questions throughout my tenancy and guiding me through the application process. I highly recommend working with them!

Unethical, shady business. In cabal with the abusive practices of Alameda landlords.

Friend had a severe mold problem. This agency handpicked their 'inspector,' had a private meeting beforehand and quickly determined that 'there were no issues' -- despite the meter going into the red repeatedly.

My friend is now dealing with health issues while 'Cerda Zein' repeatedly deflects responsibility. Insane.

Edit: as a follow up after court and re: Cerda Zein’s response to this review -

I was a frequent guest at my friend’s place and followed her process closely. She’s naturally a reserved person, small in stature, extremely busy and stressed working as a teacher, and not one to want to complain. I believe Cerda Zeine took advantage of this in their treatment of her.

She *did* reach out to the company— it’s all she ever did - before she was forced to get an hotel and escalate this legally.

The water damage (again, REPEATEDLY reported along w/ the likely related mold issue) from the unit eventually made the bathroom ceiling in the unit below collapse. We heard it in the middle of the night before convening with the tenant below. We were in complete disbelief.

To the restaurant analogy: it’s more like not wanting to eat there because they gave my friend and others food poisoning. Repeatedly. It also happens that I hate bullies. Nice deflection though.

Nonetheless, my friend eventually went to court with Cerda Zeine, and judge sided with her on all accounts. My friend moved out and CZ was forced to return her full deposit along with the living expenses in the weeks when she was forced to move out due to the safety hazards. To our knowledge those issues were still never resolved.

Edit: Cerda-Zein continues to deny the above, but notice the claim is 'you are not a client of ours' (I don't claim to - this is with my friend) and not a denial of any of the above. The ceiling *collapsed* due to neglect. The mold issue persisted. And she absolutely went to court, and won. For anyone dealing with Cerda-Zein in their own way, please see this as a sign of encouragement - if you've been mistreated, keep a clear documentation along the way, Cerda Zein will have some weak attempts to drag it out, but once you make it to court, the judge will see it and you *will* win. Do not give up.

Cerda-Zein is wonderful! I had a last minute move, and my agent, Angelo, was extremely accommodating and quick to respond! He really went above and beyond to help me find an apartment, and I couldn't be more thankful! Highly recommend, the team is great!
