Code compliance dept. Has not returned any of my calls over a period of 5 months. There own site says there supposed to respond to emailed complaints in 30 day. Not 1 call. I'm always trying to contact them. And of course you get there recording. It's been months. Also had one of there reps try to put words in my mouth. She did not even read my complaint.very dysfunctional. I also was told that they were not going to come up to see the code violation.i was told they did not want to burn the rubber off there tires going there. 5.5 months later approx.feb 10 one rep said that a inspector showed up after dark to access the issue. And did not access the code violation, to see the problem. This is new construction.
And because he had no access to turning on the exterior lighting. He dismissed the situation. Unprofessional. Did not even contact me to tell me they came and I live right next door. Again I also was told there short staffed. Should not be the publics problem.just another sign of there dysfunction. I've been keeping records for a possible court filing. Public servants that are paid by us the tax payers. Need to remember who they work for. It seems we are not a priority, it's definitely true.

I've been dealing with the Calaveras Building Department for several months now, and honestly, they've been an extraindary help and have always given me great insight on what I need to do.

Reading these comments are truly funny. It's clear that most of these people have never dealt with a building department in the state of California. Yes, they don't answer the phone, however, they're aso criminally understaffed right now and every time I've gone to them in person they've always been nice, respectful and eager to help.

Booking inspections is ridiculously easy and I'm always impressed by how quickly they show up and even the inspectors are respectfully and very knowledgeable.

Have left 3 messages. They never answer the phone which might be okay if they returned a message. None of my 3 messages have been returned! I don't know if I'm going to just have to drive the 30 minutes to the office to get an answer to a question! Very disappointing when county offices are ran so shabbily.

I've called Multiple times and sent out various emails trying to get an answer from the Building and safety department and i've haven't received a response. Per their Voice recording its stating that building and safety is currently closed to the public but fully operational yet I can't even get them to call me back or acknowledge my emails. All Cities and Counties are currently experiencing process changes due to the Covid-19 but this is unacceptable every other city calls back, responds to emails etc. All the numbers listed are the same number and they all go to the voice a recording.

Update: I left a message for Douglas Oliver and he called me right back and was able to get the person I was emailing to call me back and get this whole issue resolved * Thank you Doug
