My fiancé and I are (now, were) first time homebuyers. We knew we would need as much help and guidance as possible in the mortgage process because we both had significant graduate school debt. While our incomes would support the purchase of a home, and that was the step we wanted, we were well aware that without someone 'in our corner' we would encounter substantial difficulty or even impossibility in evaluating options - say nothing of getting approved.

Enter American Commerce Mortgage, and Brian Zwick. Brian set up an immediate appointment with us, informed us what we needed to bring, and carefully evaluated everything we had. Brian knew the 'ins and outs' of the approval process, what would help us, and what would harm us. He immediately recognized how to handle our existing debt service obligations for our graduate school debt, and how to adequately explain same to lenders.

Brian got us pre-approved, and when we began searching for homes, would actually call the seller's agent on properties and explain how we would make great candidates for the purchase. In a market where sellers are receiving offers in cash, I cannot explain clearly enough how important this is - to have someone in your corner letting them know that you will meet your deadlines and perform quickly. One seller's agent actually asked for his contact information so that when she is representing buyers she could refer them to Brian. Again, this is unheard of - and those in the industry recognize it.

Our escrow closed in just under thirty days. It would have closed faster except for a seller delay. For the readers who do not know, this is close to impossible. Having it close this quick allowed us to move directly from our rental into our home without a period of time where we had to put things in storage - again saving us money and frustration (imagine moving twice!).

We will be picking up the keys to our new home later today - and thanks in large part to American Commerce Mortgage and Brian. Cannot recommend them enough. Do not go into this process without at least talking with American Commerce and Brian - they will always represent 'value added' to your upcoming transaction.
