1/28/25 I was looking for an apartment that was under Ally Property Management and asked to view the apartment. I viewed it and there was fecal matter in the toilet and the carpet was foul. The realtor Naomi said it’s not supposed to be like that and that they’d have someone on that. Besides that, there was no real problem with the location and I decided to move forward with my roommates,1/29/25 we gave them $120 for credit checks and the next day 1/30/25 we were approved via email with a message urging us to sign a lease by 2/3/25. They close on weekends so we couldn’t contact them until Monday the 3rd. So we come in and we ask to see the apartment again and they say sorry we can’t show it to you again once you applied… I asked how we’re supposed to know the apartment has been cleaned? And they said sorry that’s our policy. They stole our money and said it’s their unwritten office policy. Mind you, we were APPROVED.

I moved out August 11 and was told to send in the forwarding addresses for our security deposit by EOD the next day so I did that on the form on their website that goes to an email because that is what I was told to do. Fast forward almost a month later my roommates and I have received nothing. I call Ally and the lady on the phone is confused and goes "Well it takes some time for them to arrive it doesn't just happen in day." For context, I live an hour drive away so it should not have taken that long, but she assured me they had been sent out a while ago. In between the first week of September and today (Sept.23) I sent maybe 3 emails using the form on their website inquiring about our deposit. No response. Today I called and asked why we have not received it and she said that they got sent back to them because they did not have the forwarding addresses, even though I submitted them in the form I was told to. I asked her where they attempted to be mailed to if they did not have the forwarding addresses and she said she mailed them to the apartment I previously had the lease at (that I moved out of), also that is literally across the street from their leasing office. Why would you send them to the only address in the world where you know I do not live at anymore? I was confused how they did not have our forwarding addresses because they were sent on the form I was told to submit them by and she told me she did not even know what email those forms get sent to. They also never returned the security deposit of a tenant who lived with us our first year there but did not resign with us our second year.

Thanks Ally!

Was seriously considering a tenancy with Ally, but they wanted a lot more for a 2 bedroom then other similar options on the market.

Called to negotiate but whomever I spoke to was so incredibly condescending I was taken aback. They suggested I go with another option, despite me providing reasonable evidence of what would be a fair rent for the property.

Really glad I went with their suggestion, I found a bigger nicer place at a lower price, with a much more down to earth and pleasant management company!

The other company was willing to talk prices and their reasoning for them while not belittling me for asking about fair pricing.

Glad I dodged that bullet looking at all these reviews!

The absolute worst, unprofessional, money hungry group of individuals I’ve ever met. One, they will enter your place without a 24hr notice. Two, they will send maintenance over for a request and have them tell you “I can’t fix this, sorry” and just leave. The issue was a lock on a sliding door (a complete safety hazard in my opinion). Three, for a broken garbage disposal, they will recommend you put your hand in the drain to solve the problem before actually trying to do something themselves. Four, they do not know how to format emails when sending them to their tenants. Five, when you call asking about voicemails or emails left by Ally Management they will not be able to help you because they weren’t the person to help you (do they not all work for the same company?) and give you attitude. Five, the gardeners that they hired will break your glass sliding door and they will wait four days to change it, leaving your house completely unsafe (keep in mind, this was during the stabbings). And seven, they will have you fill out a renter’s application THEY CREATED and not read your responses and try to pin the problem on you for their lack of literacy and professionalism. When I applied in 2021 I marked that I had a pet, it was never communicated to me that I had to pay a pet deposit or that my rent was going to be adjusted. Forward, 2024 they will send you a three day notice telling you to re-home your cat. When I responded to their email with proof of me telling them I had an animal, they pinned the blame on me and not their staff for not adjusting the lease correctly. The list goes on and on.

Overall, don’t let their “affordable” prices lure you. It’s better to pay the additional 200-300 a month for a living situation that has competent and compassionate staff who can own up to their mistakes and treat you like an actual person.

If you can avoid it, do not rent from these folks. They have absolutely no interest in helping tenants and nearly every single person involved in the company is not only unhelpful, but straight up rude. They will drag their feet on any issue and blame you for issues and delays. The higher up in the company you go, the ruder they get. Save yourself the headache and go with any other agency in Davis.

well i mean they barely have two stars for a reason and everyone’s issues seem to align… Unprofessional, money hungry, rude and condescending. Not to mention the roaches and bugs, nothing being fixed by maintenance when they came, just all around a very negative experience. Very thankful to relocate somewhere welcoming and professional, hopefully in the future ally will do better.

This is my first year renting from Ally Property Management. I haven’t had a single bad experience with them. We recently had some difficulty with our dish washer, submitted a service request, and received an email response within 48 hours telling us that a new dishwasher has been ordered and would be installed the next day. That’s exceptional service in my opinion. We’ve submitted multiple other service requests throughout the year and each of them has been handled very efficiently. We would definitely recommend!

I would have given negative 5-stars if I could!! I have never experienced such unprofessional business people in my entire life! “The chief operating officer” Lisha was very rude from the beginning - the very moment my husband and I stepped in to the office. She was yelling from the back of her office when we explained why we came. When we asked to come out to the front, she even escalated her tone of voice and spat profanities at us. She became vulgar and physically came very close to my husband in a threatening manner having her index finger pointing out so close to my husband’s face. I asked her not to point her finger like that but she kept doing it. The way she acted toward us was not acceptable as a business person and I felt very scared. Then she told us to get out of her property and had another person call the police. Be aware that this property management is not only very unprofessional but also a piece of work to say the least.
