When my wife and I wanted to buy our first house we were scared to death of meeting with lenders. We felt overwhelmed and uneducated about things like the current interest rates, how much we would need for a down-payment, appraisal gap coverage for bidding, insurance, etc. But, after our first meeting with Eric at HomeGrown Mortgage we knew that we had gone to the right place. Eric is so much more than a lender. He has lived on the shoreline his whole life and when you work with him you gain access to all of that experience! He gave us a full education and with that knowledge we felt empowered to make our own decisions about how to use our money. He showed us that we were actually in much better shape than we realized! While we were bidding, Eric was ALWAYS quick to respond to messages and provide up-to-date information on market rates, locations, and (most importantly) our budget. When we had an offer accepted, Eric communicated with our realtor and attorney with such an ease that it seemed like they were all working in the same office. We felt like we had a whole team behind us and all we needed to do was show up for the closing.
I love buying things from big-box stores. I don't even mind the occasional chain restaurant. But, we will always stay local when it comes to our money.
