Please stay far away from Breland homes. They built my home in 2021, they put the lowest quality of everything in my home. I have had to replace a leaking kitchen faucet within 3 years, replace my dishwasher within 1 year. Many structural issues. Breland is now refusing to deal with a cracked fiberglass tub… due to their negligence. The integrity of this builder is questionable. I should have taken a loss on my earnest money when they admitted to a design flaw in the beginning. Find a builder who operates with integrity and builds quality homes.

My husband and I have lived in a Breland Community for about 2.5 years. The property we bought (and paid extra for) was advertised as a waterfront property. I have logged a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Huntsville about this issue and the subsequent unresponsiveness by Breland Homes. Multiple neighbors have complained about the same issue and we have been stonewalled by the board, which is Louis & Patti Breland and Paul Sealy (i.e. Breland Homes).

These photos are of the storm-water retention pond behind our house. There is a huge overgrowth of algae already this Spring and it will continue into the Summer, eventually clogging the entire pond. This condition puts off an offensive odor. The mosquitos vastly over populate in the pond because there is nothing moving the water.

We’ve been watching how the pond gets more shallow every year as it has never been dredged or maintained in any way.

Cannot recommend and business ran by breland. He and his wife are the only members of our HOA board, and they have refused to ensure upkeep of the area surrounding the retention pond in my neighborhood. Please note, I said refused. They have been contacted several times, but multiple residents to remove these trees. The answer is always no. My most recent communications with them informed them that these trees are now tall enough that they are a hazard. My property is at risk of damage due to their negligence, yet, the continue to refuse to carry out their responsibilities. This would be rectified simply enough by the maintenance people they already pay 10s of thousands of dollars for the upkeep-yet they refuse.

I was once again told that Breland will not remove the trees. If this is the stance taken with my property, the implications for the homes built under his name are terrifying.

Bought my first home from Breland. In the process of buying a new home and I know who not to shop with. They use cheap material and cheap appliances when building. The carpet didn't even last a year! Water heater didnt last 3 years, AC unit didnt last 2 years. Had many other issues, but too many to name. There are many other builders in the area with better quality. I totally understand the DR Horton situation and the agreement they had, but the name "Breland" was plastered all over my home. My AC closet, which wasn't finished, says "Breland" all over it.

I am a first time homeowner/buyer and Breland Homes ruined the experience for me. It has been an extremely devastating experience. I debated writing a review in fear of retaliation but I want other buyers to see this post and think twice before purchasing a home from them. I have been trying to get the master bathroom fixed for what seems like forever due to a missing roof boot (the pipe was painted but a boot wasn’t placed on it) that I discovered only after spots started to appear on the ceiling after 2 weeks of me being in the home. No one caught this huge error until I pointed it out. Several people walked the roof before I purchased the home and I even hired a private home inspection prior to closing.

The superintendent is not communicating with me, contractors have been randomly showing up to work on the bathroom because they are “in the area”, and warranty will not follow up with the situation. The superintendent also was going to hide the vast amount of damage from me.

I just want to enjoy my new home without all of the challenges that I did not cause. I have reached out to other members of the Breland team and have not heard back from them. I purchased this new construction home March 2021.

Property management needs improvement. Ongoing lawn care is sporadic at best; high grass, weeds and bare spots. Gutters are not maintained causing overflow and damage. Minimum expectations have not been achieved!

The HOA is a joke, with all members being somewhat “inbreed” with a Breland (the family that should have stayed in Florida). Phone calls are not returned, promises are not kept and budgets are not available… a lack of transparency makes me suspicious of how our money is being handled.

My main question is.. once you develop a neighborhood, why on Earth would you want to maintain ultimate control, unless you feel like doing otherwise would be a financial liability! That would indicate that you are not confident in the product that you have built.

You can hide a lot of deficiencies when you control the narrative. In my opinion, that is what is happening here!

I am very pleased with my new home. The process of purchasing and working with Breland was very smooth and they worked with me throughout the entire process. The home is beautifully built and I have not had any major issues. I highly recommend.

My wife and I purchased a home from Breland while out of state. The Breland representatives were very easy to work with and facilitated a quick closing for us. Everyone was very easy to work with. We had a couple small warranty claims and they addressed those with a good fix and quickly. My family would recommend Breland without reservation!
