I have never gone out of my way to review hardly anything online before, but Boardwalk Property Management in Colorado Springs is the single worst renting experience I have ever had. I would rate negative stars if I could.
Where to begin?
This company will completely ignore all of your maintenance requests for months with no response and then gaslight you that the request was not an issue or that it was fixed already. Within just one year of living here, we have experienced everything from a mold-filled dishwasher and a trash filled shower upon move-in, to repeated sewage leaks, floods, and broken appliances and windows. The front steps to the building (used for 6 units) have been broken and dangerous for months. After ignoring the immediate danger for over a month, Boardwalk's solution to "fix" the dangerous situation was to screw two screws into a completely busted and dangerous stringer, leaving the issue in no better condition than before.
Regardless of the fact that you will not get your maintenance issues serviced in any timely fashion, the people that work in the office are nearly impossible to reach. IF you can get a hold of someone with any power to help you, they are typically in a horrible mood and treat you like you are a burden for living in their poorly maintained property.
Maria Estes (our property manager) is extremely unprofessional, rude, and horribly unpleasant to speak to every time we have interacted, regardless of the situation. I don't think I have ever had the displeasure of having to speak with a more disrespectful individual in my life. Maria consistently and intentionally ignored our messages and pleas for maintenance requests. After being outright ignored for more than 6 months about replacing the laundry units, and experiencing a sewage leak that left human feces soaking into our living space, I brought a written statement in for Maria to look at an discuss. Maria completely disregarded my written statement and sat there lying to my face about the way she had handled the maintenance request. Maria gaslit and lied about how the maintenance was already complete and that she had somehow already read my written statement even though she never even looked at it. When confronted about not having contacted us for months, she lied to my face and said that she had been attempting to contact me via her "personal line" - which was clearly untrue.
After submitting a maintenance request about our old, broken windows that fall out of the track with heavy wind and allow all of our heat to escape in the winter, someone came by to check on the condition of the windows. He confirmed that our windows "should be replaced" and he would "recommend replacement" to boardwalk. A week passes with no word, so I follow up with Maria about scheduling the replacement. Maria lies again, insisting that "the maintenance worker said they should be repaired, and did not need to be replaced". I spoke directly face to face with the same maintenance worker moments after receiving this message and he confirmed that he had recommended a REPLACEMENT, NOT REPAIR... after bringing this up to Maria she ignored the fact that I had caught her blatantly lying, and instead was upset that I had spoken to the maintenance man and told me it is not my place to speak with them...
I sincerely hope nobody else has to deal with this awful management company, especially not with someone as ill-mannered and untrustworthy as Maria Estes.
I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place, because the only course of action I can take is to continue to attempt to work with Boardwalk even though they make no attempt to have open, honest communication.
