WOW! Stunning view of all of Death Valley. Well worth the effort and time to get there. Parking can be a challenge at times but be patient. The last half mile is extremely steep and curvy, so vehicles are limited to 25 feet in length, but the road isn't wide enough for two class C motor homes to pass by each other.

Dante’s View in Death Valley National Park offers one of the most spectacular panoramic views in the entire park. Located at an elevation of 5,475 feet, it provides a stunning vantage point over the valley floor, including a view of Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America. The viewpoint is accessible by car and features a paved path to the overlook, making it an easy stop for visitors. The contrast between the high mountain peaks and the vast desert below is especially striking during sunrise and sunset. It’s a peaceful and awe-inspiring spot, perfect for taking in the vastness of Death Valley’s dramatic landscape.

During our visit to Death Valley (the southern portion of it at least) we all were absolutely stunned at how beautiful the views were at Dantes View. It was easily the most enjoyable spot we spent time at. It was 13 or so miles off the main road, but I highly recommend it. This is an absolute must!

Possibly the best view of the valley where you can arrive by car! Note that access by trailer and RV is allowed only if the length is no more than 25 fit! We were just on a 25 fit motorhome - drove without problems. And note that access to the valley requires a payment of up to $ 30. You can pay at the entrance to the park in the machine. This place is definitely worth a detour from the road!
And one more thing: if you go up a little higher on the hill, there is a stable 5G signal, at least for Google Fi.

I enjoyed our trip to Dante's View. We went early in the morning before the sunrise. I enjoyed watching the sky slowly light up. The view from the lookout was almost 360°. It was a nice morning with a few clouds in the sky which created some nice colors in the sky.

Cool place in death valley for sunrise and sunset. Quite a drive out from the main parts of the park though, about 30 minutes from furnace creek. Windy and steep road. Can be pretty windy at the top so dress warm. Get there at least an hour before sunset time though. It goes by quick!

This is where Obi-Wan Kenobi tells Luke Skywalker about Mos Eisley spaceport. "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy..." This IS the place where that scene was filmed in the original Star Wars movie.

On a clear day, the view is expansive and for me wonderful. It's easy to get to from the Furnace Creek area. When I was there, there was still snow on Telescope peak right across the Valley. Small hiking areas from the parking lot. I'd say it's a must see, especially if you've only got a short time.
