My father is planning on moving to Myrtle Beach for about two years and he asked if I knew of any places to rent a condo from and I recommend this company because I rented from them a few years ago. He talked to a lady name Sonja and asked her if it was ok for me to go and view the unit for him because he’s still in New York and want be able to physically view it. She told him that it was fine that I go and take pictures of the unit so he could see if he like the unit. I drove down to the office and retrieved the key from Sonja and viewed the unit; this took place on a Friday evening . My father called her back the same day and said that he was interested and she told him to fill out the application and submit it. Monday evening about 3 my father received an email from the property manager Stephanie Mills stating that he must physically view the property himself and therefore the application will be canceled and the fee will be refunded and she also stated that the unit was rented out already. My father called back to speak to them but no one answered the phone, he even left several voice messages but no one returned his phone calls. They just stopped dealing with him all together. Either they are racist and didn’t want to rent a unit by the beach to a black man or they lied about their procedures. They could have at returned his phone calls. They didn’t even ask if he wanted to view another unit. The whole situation was very unprofessional. It’s a racist company to rent from.

Don't lease from this company. Unprofessional, poor communication. Company representative came into my house (long term rental) without notice., while I was at work. Recently I vacated house at the end of the lease, after three years, and it took almost two months to get my deposit back.

Honestly, the worst property management company, ever. I rented from them for almost 3 years and never missed a payment and they had the audacity to treat my family and I like trash. They’re the laziest people ever. They never respond to calls or maintenance issues. Then they turn their screw up around onto you. It makes me wonder what anyone does in that office all day long because it sure as heck isn’t their job. They can’t communicate anything with you, but they sure as hell can send you that, “rent is due soon. Hey rents due, rent money, rent money.” Notification.

Just got back from a stay at Renaissance Tower. When we first walked in there was a musty odor. Just dismissed it as an old building and some construction that was going on. After the second night, the smell in the room was so bad we searched and found the source. There was mildew on the sofa bed. Called the office around 11am and was told someone would be out that day to rectify the situation. Had to call back again 7 hours later because no one had been to check on it. I was traveling with someone who has an autoimmune issue and was making her sick. The rest of the week we spent as much time out of the room as possible. No one ever came to check the issue nor did anyone in the office ever call back to follow up as promised. Would definitely not return to stay in this building. On check out day, waited 45 minutes for an elevator. Finally gave up and hauled everything down the stairs.

Despite being set on one of their properties, the no response policy they got going on and the rudeness of Stephanie the rep I was dealing with made my family and I decide to go for a smaller and more expensive option, just for a professional and pleasant customer service. She had an attitude from day one, so I thought she might just be having a bad day, but it turns out she hates her job and can't stand her customers. She'll ask you to leave your credit card if you want to check out a property, which isn't supposed to happen. They should get a copy of ID instead. Overall, terrible service, and would highly advise against.

This company is a joke. They will intentionally ignore your phone calls if they don't want to deal with you. They also don't take responsibility for their mistakes. Don't ever rent from these people. You will be disappointed and they will take all of your money.

Update: Stay far away from this place. I was a loyal and great tenant and had no issues whatsoever while renting here. We went to turn in our keys and were told the property was disgusting because we didn't clean well enough, which we didn't because we didn't know what to do!!!!!! They never gave us a move out checklist telling us exactly what needed to be done, which they said we should have received but then turned around and said it's complimentary, that all the information is in the lease... FALSE! Nothing was in my lease about what needed to be done before moving out, and it was NEVER discussed with us. So they gave us the key back and we went and did all we could (we couldn't fix one pair of blinds because they were special order, and we couldn't hire professional carpet cleaners at that time). We were told we are still being charged for the carpets to be professionally cleaned even though we were not informed they needed to be done professionally. And they also charged me a full months rent for my last month which should have been pro-rated. It says in the lease we will receive any money owed to us within 30 days of vacating the property. Well guess what, 30 days has come and gone and still no check from the security deposit OR the money they took from my account without my authorization. It's complete BS and I'm fed up. I just want to be done with this awful company but they are hanging on to my money. Also, as a side note, the maintenance people are awful. I put in a request because my wash machine wasn't putting out cold water fast (it was just a trickle), and on the form I said they CANNOT enter the unit without my permission. About 2 1/2 weeks go by with no response. Then one day I'm lying in bed and I hear a knock. I was expecting a package so I just thought it was the postman letting me know it was there (they always knock and leave it there). Then I hear someone opening my door and I ran out and a man is standing in my apartment! He said he was there to fix the wash machine. I asked him to leave. Firstly, I didn't hear from them about anyone coming out, and they are NOT allowed to enter my unit without permission or announcing intent to enter, neither of which was done. Really, just stay away from these people. They are the worst place to rent from.

Further update: I actually contacted a lawyer about taking these jokers to small claims court. After reviewing all the evidence I gave him, he said they way overcharged me with fees for damages to the apartment. It was pretty satisfying to know I was right. The only reason I didn't pursue the case further was because I was pregnant and ended up on bedrest with high blood pressure, so dealing with this company probably would've put me into hypertensive crisis! I encourage all former tenants who feel they have been wronged by this company to contact a lawyer or file a case with small claims. This company is disgusting and disgraceful and tenants don't deserve to be treated so horribly. They basically set you up for failure and do whatever they can to take more of your money. By far, the most unprofessional rental company I've EVER dealt with! And they wonder why they have a 2.2 rating 🤔 also, love the responses from the company to everyone on here... they're definitely not helping your case. But then again, your horrible reviews and rating speaks for itself. What do you have to say to that?

New tenant, honest review. Moved here from out of state and could not be more pleased with my experience with strand. Everyone in the office is polite and professional. Service requests are no more than 24hrs. I think the reason they have bad reviews is due to the tenants who rent from them not the business. Very pleased

I know that as a renter you may not have a lot of options when it comes to who your management company is. If you are unfortunate enough to have to deal with Strand Management document EVERYTHING. I do understand that I may have missed some dusting and things like that upon my move out, but they tried to charge me for batteries, for smoke detectors that had working batteries in them- they actually said they would refund me for that, but I never saw the refund- light bulbs (which I left extra behind, but oddly no one ever came across them in an empty unit). They charged me for blinds that never existed. Because I didn't write down that they were missing from my move in check list. My move in check list was from Leonard Call (who was always amazing to work with). I tried explaining that there were never blinds in that particular room. Not when I looked at the unit, not when I moved in, not mentioned on my lease, or move in sheet. There was a charge from August that I asked several times what that charge was for since I turned my keys in to Bernadette on the last day of July (which happened to be a Friday). They never answered me until their last correspondence with me and said that Bernadette stated that I turned my keys in that following Monday and that charge was for 3 days of rent. I never dreamed I would need to get a receipt from her and of course, had no way to prove it. So, when dealing with Bernadette (or any of them really) get a receipt, get it in writing, get proof!!! They WILL rip you off no matter how good of a tenant you were. I'm just glad that I'm a homeowner now and never have to deal with them again---Updated---Oh and now they want to reply that they don't have me in their system? Of course you don't have me in your system now. I moved out in August. I was only a long term renter for 8 YEARS. It's easy to forget someone after you quit stealing money from them.
