Terrible company, scammers , shitty houses , over priced , they make you sign a detailed contract and they do not even stick to their own contracts , please do not use them to rent , they have terrible customer service and they will not give you any deposit back . They are scammers

Been renting this property from Midlands for a year now and I have no complaints. The rent is fair, things get fixed in a timely manner. The reps on the phone could be a tad bit more nicer and professional but other than that I have been happy living and renting here.

IN SUMTER SOUTH CAROLINA IS A SCAM
I'm from Florida with the
intention of moving to Sumter South Carolina for the new. I spoke to a few people at midland Management.
Saw a few houses they have on line for rental,explain to them I'll be visiting SC for a few days.My first initial visit at the office was bad, the lady at the window was very unprofessional anyway she gave me the keys to look at two of the houses, came back and did the application and also did an application with my son, so that's two application fees,she told me 48hrs,it was a Friday I was expecting them to call me on Tuesday in which they didn't. I have to call.First they say they didn't see an application for me...smh waited for a while for them to look for it, she came back and say I didn't get it because she couldn't run my credit, if you couldn't run my credit give me back my money? I ask why they say they don't know and as for my son his application was approved but he was unable to get the house because I would be living with him,I asked why again? this woman say because I wasn't approved which makes no sense and that is stupid, you are telling me if my son had applied with his wife or girlfriend and his credit approved and his wife or girlfriend wasn't approved would you tell him the same thing ? she said yes...I really think Midland Management in Sumter is nothing but a SCAM AND VERY RACIST take people's money and and give us some rediculous answers, worst if you are from out of town.

We applied with them when we were renting and we are a military family also. My husband was active duty Air Force for 22 years (I worked for former law enforcement out of another state) and they said they denied us due to the debt to ratio income and credit, keep in mind we both have credit scores over 620! And we don’t have any outstanding debt! We have been renting all over the US and not ONE TIME have been denied EVER. I 100% know that they are either discriminating due to color or just out right in it for the application fees. Let me also say this, when we initially applied the house was 1400 monthly within three days I checked and the house went up to 1500 monthly! This was during my application process. There’s definitely something up with these people for us to be treated this way. Mind you I drove 2 hrs and 40 mins both times with my children (in car with husband) all to be denied. Don’t waste your time.

I am so thankful for Google Reviews. We were about to submit an application, but felt hesitant due to how my spouse was treated when he went to the property management office to inquire about a home. The person that is staffed to assist was extremely disgusting and rude. When he asked questions about a property, he was advised its no longer available. The home is still listed on the website. Its been a few weeks since we initially inquired about the home. Allow me to describe why I feel this is discrimination. I'm from California and over the phone my accent really stands out, and unfortunately I'm mistaken for a white person often here in the south. I was advised to fill out the application and list it as my first choice. I told them my spouse would come to pick up an application. Well when he arrived, he was treated very poorly, even while in uniform and told the property suddenly had two applications. Really all within an hour? Is it because he's dark-skinned? Their application states they do not discriminate, but this entire situation felt discriminatory. I might have to look into this legally. My husband does not fight for this country, only to come home and be discriminated against. Again I am so thankful for Google Reviews. Through their practices, I'm sure they are able to collect a lot of free money from application fees. Also I noticed on the application they advise you cannot be over 40 percent debt to income ratio, but do not list what they consider to be ranked within their DTI calculations, leaving further room to discriminate. We are s thankful we did not apply and basically hand them free money.

We rented through this company almost 5 years and they were amazing. I was worried bc I saw the bad reviews after already signing the lease but I have no regrets. They always responded quickly to work orders and were even easy to get a hold of during emergency after hours. The only issue I had was the lady that usually answers the phone for their after hours is very rude but I believe she works for century 21 and not them. We had to break the lease bc of military orders but we received our full deposit back.

This company should not be in business! I tried to rent a home that was listed for 1650. My
Credit score is 795 and I make 97000 annually. Retired military and now work for DOD. I was going to be at staying with my daughter and her 4 chdren. I was told after getting several run around thaT my debt to infome ratio is what disqualify me. Again 795 credit score.. what debt? I'm also married and my husband makes the same as I do..
if I don't qualify for a home to RENT at this price im not sure who does... Lol . But I had to call her to find this information out.Som
my conclusion is this... they are biased. Certain homes are rented to who they want If your F melanated expect to be treated poorly. My daughter is also retired who receives disability. I gu3s
Guess her background disqualified her too. Smh beware of this company
They should be out of business. And if you are lettng this company manage your t home be careful.
also said they checked credit a d NEVER DID. not sure what they took my application fee for.

Beth is an absolute sweet heart. We just move into town and were in need of a place. We applied, signed our lease and moved in within a week! Beth was so kind and patient with us. She welcomed us and has even recommended some things for us to do.
