Buyers beware! As someone who vacationed at SI then purchased a home, I was completely disappointed with SI from the start. If you’ve ever belonged to a club, you will find SI club and homeowners association subpar. While the facilities are nice (albeit dated - boomers rule here), the personnel (including the GM) do not deliver the quality and etiquette that matches the cost of joining the club). As someone who worked for Clubcorp for many years, I am shocked at the lack of quality and delivery in club protocol. In the club’s defense, finding quality employees at such a remote location is difficult. And, those employees must contend with renters who have the same access to amenities as members. That brings me another issue - renters have access to all the amenities you pay for and invest in. Yes, I knew this when I purchased. But, when vacation goggles are off and all the inconsiderate behavior and over crowding in your PRIVATE club (that you pay a premium initiation fee and monthly dues to belong to) becomes a constant, then it completely destroys the luxury of ownership and membership. As a member, I’ve never felt or been treated any differently than I was as a renter. SIPOA does not enforce homeowner violations which means your neighbor can completely let his/her house fall is disrepair and/or put out too many “yard decorations” making it a problem should you need to sell (who wants to buy a house next to that?). People can drive however they want (there is VERY minimal patrolling and limited control on what security can do as it is a private island). If you’re considering SI, think twice. I wholeheartedly regret my decision.

Coconut shrimp, side salad, onion rings, scallops, Mac & cheese all the best we've ever had. The service was to notch, couldn't ask for anything better. Ask for Tia or Greyson. Oh, yes, and make your own sundae included with the meal. Yummm.
