What a great team... It's always great to work with them. They are helpful and accommodating. If you flight is a little early or late, you can even talk to them about being open beyond their official hours so that you can get your car. They always go above and beyond! Price was fair for the area. Office was great. When we tried to extend, the toll free number insisted that not only was there no local number, but they couldn't find my reservation or that the car even existed.

The third party we rented through--Expedia--had the DIRECT NUMBER TO THE LOCAL OFFICE in the email. Extending took 30 seconds.

So the local office was fantastic. The toll free call center was worthless.

My experience with this car rental agency was great. I got a smile and friendly, fast service. The car didn't have any bells or whistles, but it suited my purpose, and was as expected for rural Alaska.

Great staff. The car I had reserved was unavailable so we were given a car not meeting our expectations and an upgrade was not available either. However, the overall experience was a positive one.

Horrible experience! First I pick up a Chevy Treverse and the Manager Bob was the most unfriendly person I have ever met rented me the car, I figured maybe having a bad day so I left with my car and headed to Anchorage. Half way there, I stopped and went to push the button to shut the car off and it wouldn't engage into park. I called the roadside assistance number(googled it due to key tag number being incorrect, thank god I had service still) and the roadside assistance company couldn't find any record of my rental due to Bob not inputting correctly into computer. They suggested returning to Kenai Avis. I called and Bob answered, explained what happen and was told "were actually closed on Saturdays, I'm just answering phones today from home" I was appalled at that response so I asked if he could possibly meet at airport to exchange vehicle and he said he could meet so I got there and told him I did manage to fill vehicle with gas even though the engine wouldn't shut off to do so and he stated it had to be filled regardless or he would have charged me. He gave me a Honda CR-V which only has 5 seats not 7 like I asked and I guess was more expensive to rent but I wasn't charged. After looking at paperwork my 25% discount wasn't applied through Expedia so I figured I'd ask upon returning it. Unfortunately Bob was working and he said that it I only paid $66.01 for the Traverse and counter price is $179.00 so I got a discount already, showed him on Expedia itinerary that was the rental price and no discount was applied. He said have to contact Expedia, I then asked about a refund due to broken vehicle and was told you got a more expensive car than you had, but I also lost 2 very needed seats. By the end of this i was fed up sick of it so i just walked away. I will never rent with Avis again, sticking with Budget who has great cars and friendly service always

Less 1 star. Customer service was terrible. Instructions were not clear and cost us over $340. They were not helpful, or flexible, and presented us with No options. They just said “we are a franchise and can do what we want”. It was unprofessional, and in my opinion done intentionally. Avoid this company Franchise or you will pay.

If there was an option for no stars, that’s what I would have chosen. If you’re looking for company who treats their customers respectfully and uses the price listed on your original receipt, this is not the place to rent from.

I reserved a rental car for two days from Kenai to Anchorage at a rate of $193.07. I showed up to pick up my rental car late the day that I had it reserved not knowing it would be an issue. First, I was told that they did not have any vehicles left. Then, it changed to that they did but that I would need to pay $300.00+ total because of an extra charge for a one way to Anchorage. I explained that I had reserved my car online for the same selections and the additional charge was not listed. The lady at the front desk told me that she did not know and that she just worked at the desk. When I said “I just need a car”, she then switched back to “hm... we don’t have cars available”. Starting to get very frustrated at this point, I went online and reserved another vehicle for the next day because it again showed the price of $193.07. I told the lady that I booked it for the next day and was told “good luck” and to “be on time”.

The next morning my fiancé and his father go to pick up the vehicle and are told “we cannot rent you a car because you’re on a do not rent list”. No wonder the other lady told us “good luck”, because she wrote a post it note saying not to rent us a vehicle. She said she needed to call her manager and get pre approved to waive the fee to Anchorage. She talked to her manager, then said that she couldn’t give them the same type of vehicle that we had reserved. They said they needed any car and were told that they had no cars available. The guy in line behind them had the same issue but didn’t have time to take it up with them because his flight was in four hours, but was going to talk to the Anchorage Avis. After all this, they ended up going to Budget next door who were much more helpful and who’s prices and fees matched their website.

Be careful renting from this location.
Made a reservation on May 28, 2019 for 2 Premium SUV's (Chevy Suburbans). Called a week before arrival and verified that we had (2) Suburbans waiting for us. They stated that it wouldn't be a problem.
Upon arrival on August 18, 2019 they informed us us that they were out of the Chevy Suburbans and that we would be put in to (2) Toyota Sequoias.
I explained to them that I had 12 guys with all of their luggage and that we needed more room than what the Sequoias had. They told us that they had nothing else that we could rent. We ultimately ended up going to Buget Rent A Car and renting a third vehicle. Won't rent from Avis again!!!
