Everything about this mortgage closing went wrong. We have bought and sold multiple properties including one overseas that was much easier than this closing. This closing has apparently been managed by people who seem like this is the first time they’ve ever done this. We had to resubmit or re-explain almost everything up until and including the last moments of closing. We had to re-submit several documents at the last minute. We had to submit documents on the last day that could have been submitted weeks ahead but were not requested until the day of closing. We paid over 0.5% higher interest rate than the mortgage company website claimed we should have received without any attempt of explanation. The bank representative would only string us along and sidetrack around the discussion without providing actual useful explanations. Then she just stopped responding to our questions because we were committed and it would have been too much work and we would have lost $10,000 escrow if we did not go along with the process despite bait and switch tactics.We had multiple last minute changes to the wire transfer amounts. This resulted in additional unnecessary fees and stress. On top of everything, the sellers removed furnishings that were agreed by contract to be included with the sale. We’re happy with house, but extremely disappointed with the process and most of the people involved. This is not rocket science and should be a well planned process. All of the appropriate professionals were included and received their commissions despite multiple failures and extremely poor communication.
