I've had a great experience renting from Legacy Real Estate. When I encountered some challenges with my living situation, Eric, the owner, was incredibly accommodating and helped me transition into a new unit smoothly. We rented an apartment from Legacy Real Estate on Pitman St this past year and have regretted every moment living there. Our first unpleasant experience was the lack of working heat for one whole month in October 2023 with little urgency to fix it by management and their solution? Giving us 2 heaters for three tenants which they would have to take back every couple of days when the apartment was 55 degrees or less everyday. We communicated with them consistently and they were barely responding to fix it just for them to fix it and our gas bill to be $400 in the winter time per month.

Our most recent more than frustrating experience? The move out process. When we moved, we were told our security deposit would come in 20 days and would have the move out walkthrough which would explain if there were any deductions to the $2,500 security deposit we paid at move in. 20 days later we get a $2,000 check with no explanations. After calling them multiple times and getting the turn around, I finally talked with Eric the manager who informs me that the $500 deduction is due to mattresses being left on the street and they just assumed it was us with 0 proof. They unfairly and illegally withheld money from us with no proof. Their process is to wait for the other tenants that moved out on the same day to fess up that it’s their mattress. We are two months past our move out, and I am consistently following up with Eric just to get no answers or answers making excuses. We have been more than patient but enough is enough.

Do not waste your time renting from them. We were forced to move out because they increased the rent by $200 a month and couldn’t find anyone to move in which forced them to lower the rent by $200 from what we paid. Speaks volumes…and all their answers to previous negative comments of « we can’t find you in our previous tenants records » is absolutely bullshit. Why not own up to how shitty of a management company you are and change for the better and don’t withhold people’s money with 0 proof?

Unprofessional and Untrustworthy

I rented an apartment from Legacy Real Estate for a year, and my experience has been nothing short of frustrating. After moving out, they refused to return my deposit, claiming they found items on the street and blaming us without any evidence. They deducted from my deposit based on assumptions, despite the entire building moving out and all tenants having paid a full deposit.

It’s been two months since they promised to send my money back, and they continue to ignore my requests or provide excuses. Their lack of communication and transparency is unacceptable. I feel taken advantage of and would not recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable rental experience. Avoid this company if you value your hard-earned money!

Scott helped me buy my first home and he made the process so seamless. He knew so much about Providence and lined everything up so that getting a lender, appraisal, inspection, etc. were so easy. He even helped to rent out my apartment so I could end my lease early. Everywhere we went, everybody knew him and loved him. Definitely would recommend him to anyone! Great guy!

In the past, we have managed our rentals ourselves but our lives started getting too busy with work and family that we couldn't fully continue to manage the properties on a daily basis. We worked with another property management but didn't seem to find what we were looking for until we came across Legacy. Legacy was able to work with us and offer services that was customized to our rentals and tenants. They have managed our properties for over a year now, they are professional, organized and have great market knowledge. As landlords, you will have some difficult tenants, they communicate with tenants professionally and always try their best to fix the problem in a timely manner. If you are looking for a property management, give their office a call.

I lived in a Legacy apartment in 2019- Fall 2020. I noticed they let go of their maintenance guy once COVID hit but we had problems before that when it comes to basic maintenance. We had heat issues at one point in my lease in, I believe January specifically (2020), which were barely addressed and the thermostat was replaced (for what? it read wrong either way and was physically freezing). It did nothing and we got no other answers. Thankfully last winter was not nearly this cold and we had one bad really bad week where it just didn't work at all and was in the 50s inside the apartment. Otherwise if it was a freezing cold winter, it seems it would have been an absolute battle. We did have continuous fire alarm issues that were never properly fixed by Legacy as well. They would send the maintenance guy in and he wouldn't find an issue and they just let it fall flat after that. Clearly there was an issue though. It happened so often we started thinking it was the oven and had a tech come in to check and again, nothing. They would go off randomly all the time. I was basically met with "there's not much we can do" and the old maintenance guy changed one or two units without ever figuring out the real problem. We ended up replacing all fire alarms in the apartment ourselves (5). I had a great experience with Scott when we viewed and Liz had great communication and I know tried to help. From my understanding, management seems to have changed now and they still do not fix their issues. COVID or not. Frankly for the price points Legacy charges, it's just unacceptable to not have better communication, customer service and more reliable maintenance.
