Renters beware: A member of my family has been having issues with a mice infestation since December of last year, and the staff have refused to do much of anything about it.

Staying here? Prepare for:

- dead mice in your toilet
- rat poop on the floor

Have issues? They won’t be fixed.

My parents have been renting from Durkin for over 40 years!!! 🙂 such a wonderful family run business, Jim has always been so good to them!! 🙂 every year a different cottage!!! 🙂 we LOVE RI!!! The cottages are always clean, quaint!!! Always feels like home when we are in Narragansett!!!! Till next year.... hope you all have a great summer!!! 🙂 this was their view this year, by the pool!! 🙂

If this review could make at least one person change their mind about renting from Durkin.. I’ll be satisfied. I rented from them in college for two years, and they were terrible. Super money hungry and will do whatever they can to get another dollar from their already financially struggling college students. The house we stayed in was incredible, but horribly kept and falling apart. We would reach out to have things fixed and rarely hear back. When we did, they would send someone at horrible times and unannounced to do a lazy job. Please don’t rent from Durkin realty.

I rented with Durkin Cottage Realty for my first ever rental - a house on Ponagansett Pkwy. They have always been extremely responsive and quick. I also appreciate their leniency with extensions for the rent if you provide proof of loans. I always get an email response in 24 business hours if I have any questions/concerns. My landlord, Steve, is also very responsive and kind. I got my entire security deposit back last year (minus $50 for the rug which I completely understood - we accidentally stained it and it was white so we were expecting that deduction). Your landlord holds onto your security deposit, not Durkin, just FYI. It is up to the landlord whether or not they return it, so that shouldn’t really reflect on the realty company’s reviews. Keep your house clean, reach out about maintenance within 48 hours of the issue occurring, and be respectful of the house you rent, and your outcome should be good. I rented the same house again for my senior year and came back to awesome updates - a new deck, new couch, new table, etc). Landscaping and trash pick up are always timely. I have no complaints.

We had the best week renting a beachfront property in Narragansett. We've rented twice now, and lucked out with great weather thankfully both times!

Terrible experience. Do not rent from Durkin!!!! Never gave our security deposit back even though there was zero damage to the house and it was cleaned spotless before we moved out. They are crooks !!!!!! DO NOT RENT !!!!

Extremely lazy and unprofessional service. A week after I signed the lease they called to tell me that the house I was renting was doing renovations that they were unaware of and forced me to pick another house, violating their own lease. At the end of the year my landlord returned my security deposit with hundreds of dollars of taken out for damages existing before we moved in and wouldn’t respond to me when I asked to see receipts for proof. Some of those repairs were also to fix a poor quality job that a contractor durkin sent was supposed to fix. We went to durkin to ask for their help and they just said they would forward the email to my landlord so that they wouldn’t have to deal with it. If you are looking for a real estate agency that cares about their renters do not go here!
