If I could give this company 0 stars I would and I would be more than happy to break down why. The property I rented from them was run down and old, obviously only maintained to the minimum amount possible but I needed housing quick so I got what I got. Their maintenance people were awful and don't even get me started about the people in their office. I legally broke my lease early and gave them everything in writing at least 30 days in advance. They then took not only my full security deposit but also additional money I had overpaid in rent for cleaning, repainting fees, and electricity amounting to almost $1000.00 even though I paid electricity the entire time they were "re-doing" the apartment to get it ready for the new tenant. When calling to ask why these prices were as exorbitant as they were I was given the run around, stone-walled, and told I would get calls back when I never did, and then when I eventually got to talk to Cathy because the office got tired of dealing with me she was rude, abrasive, and said because I broke the lease early I was on the hook for everything to get the apartment back into rentable shape which I understand but almost $1000.00? I would NEVER rent through T.E. Johnson and Sons even if my life depended on it and you should not either.

EDIT: Per their response they tried to steal money for electricity in their fees even though I paid Duke Energy during the entire process and had to call no less than 6 times in order to receive my refund. I also had to fight to get an itemized bill of fees from your office which I would not consider making a “smooth process” and you said. I had full knowledge that I would be paying more by breaking the lease early but trying to scam me out of money I already paid is shady dealing practices and both you and I know this 🙂

Run. This place is very poorly managed. For this business to be ran since 1928 I was very disappointed by the unprofessional behavior of Adriana. I finally got the President and he handled all the cares and concerns. That earned 1 star. If not they definitely be negative 5 stars.

My FIRST experience with them SUCKS! I paid a $1300 deposit for a house friday 5/10/24.... I clearly stated that I couldn't move in until 6/1/24 On the phone and on my application! When I got my lease agreement from Adriana, it said my move in date will be 5/20 for a prorated amount of $520! Monday 5/13/24 I called to explain to Adriana that I cannot move in on 5/20/24 for various reasons. Adriana told me either move in by the 20th with another $520 or I dont have a house. Plus I CAN'T GET MY DEPOSIT BACK!! So my whole $1300 is down the drain!! I saw reviews where other people got their money back when they couldn't move in the time frame, so why I can't get my money back!!! They asked you when can you move in, then force you to move in 2 weeks from the day that you're approved!! For the person reading this...... If you get a call from Adriana or anybody from TE Johnson saying you're approved, you have 48hrs to pay your deposit, and you have to move in 2 weeks after your approval date for a prorated amount! If you don't, YOU WILL NOT HAVE A HOUSE, AND YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR DEPOSIT BACK!! It's definitely a thumbs down for me ?

I rented with T. E. Johnson & Sons. They made the experience so easy from start to finish. Applying was a breeze even though I has special circumstances with pets and income. They took great care of me by promptly handling all my maintenance requests and coordinating all the communication beautifully with the homeowner and I when I the home security system was acting up. They recommended absolutely dream overnight pet sitter to stay at my home. She was so good I continued to use her for years after. And I think she was actually a tenant in one of their other properties so talk about helping both tenants at the same time! Whenever I had to pop into their office to pay rent etc they were always so welcoming and nice. Just a GREAT local team 100% recommend to everyone. There are lots of other property management teams who are inconsistent, unpleasant, grumpy and with poor customer service in the area as that's sadly the industry standard. I wouldn't waste my time with any of them when this team has a great variety of rental options and such a consistently amazing team.

BTW --- I'm from Colorado and have no family relation to this team... we just share one of the most common last names in the country.

Jacqueline is a very rude individual and doesn't care about the tenants issues or concerns. I spoke to her about an issue that I was having in my home. The issues weren't going to be resolved, and they have the last say so. If anything needs to be upgraded or fixed, make sure you have proof that it was not cause by you, or they will charge/bill you for it. I'm so glad I moved out of their property.

I recently moved out of a property that they took over a year or so ago, After I lived there 4 years. They tried to charge me for blinds being damaged that I originally put in myself because the house had none. I purchased a different shower head when I moved in because the one in there was molded and nasty and now they want to charge me for the shower head damage even though it was too was mine to begin with. How do you charge me for damages to things that are mine? The property was rat infested and they never had us sign a new lease from when we moved in years prior yet wanted to charge for anything they could think of. They have been a scam since decades ago that's why I was hell bent on moving from the minute they started to manage the property. They are rude when you don't respond the way they want you to.
