The thought of becoming a first-time homeowner was a dream come true for my family and I but has now turned into a complete nightmare. Amanda Wiley was well aware of me being in my last trimester of pregnancy and a single mom of 3 at the time. I reached out to Amanda because I was referred to her by a friend. I believed Amanda was my realtor because she helped me throughout the entire process from the very first day that I reached out to her. She advised me to send her all of my information via text and that she looked forward to helping us find a home. That made me believe she was my realtor, and I was her client as a buyer. She showed me more than three homes, but I didn't like them, so I advised her that I would just continue to look, and not just settle.

Then one day she called me and told me she had a home that would be perfect for my family and I. She advised me that she would hold off from posting it if I really liked it. After being rushed to view the home and make a decision, she then acted as if she was negotiating the asking price of the home with the seller. Not once did she mention she was representing me and the seller. She texted with me and gave me lots of feedback about the house and was very adamant about me making a decision before she posted it on the market.

After I moved into the house, I learned about the seller covering up defects involving flooding, mold, and cracks in the foundation. My attorney asked Amanda’s attorney about that after closing, and we were told that Amanda took the position that I was only her “customer.” This was on the contract, but Amanda told me everything was fine to sign so I did not review it closely because I believed she had my back. Based on what I’ve been told by people in the community, I believe Amanda was aware of the defects and that the seller concealed them, but she had me purchase the house anyway. I did send her some text messages about being happy with her before I found out about the concealed defects, and she has tried to use those text messages against me, I guess to say there’s nothing wrong with the house but there definitely is – it has flooded four times within a year, my dehumidifier fills up in 8-10 hours, and I believe there is mold causing health problems with my children and I. This is all based on my opinion.
