Living here was great. While not everything was perfect, issues were quickly handled for me and the attention given by Candoshia, Michael, and Teresa was great. Also, the maintenance team was very helpful and heard our concerns always. I miss living here. My little piece of constructive feedback is: maintain the back pool open and get the movie theater room running if you haven’t done so yet. Thank you Hawthorne!

Move in was Quick and Candoshia was very Nice and Helpful during our Tour and Move in ! Staff were very flexible with our situation ! We have a few minor Issues with our apartment that should get handled soon ! We have been enjoying the gym and the quietness of the neighborhood! The front desk staff always greet us with a smile when we come in ! So far our stay has been Good !

If I could give zero stars I would.. we were notified by residents about poop in the pool.. we were at the pool the same day and had my kids tested just after the poop incident and my kids ended up with ecoli.. the water has had issues and the water main shut offs are leaking and have insect larva and algae growth.. it is not safe as we are never notified of crimes in the area and a multiple vehicles have been stolen from the property by teens with weapons. The property manager lies to tenants myself included after I witnessed her lie to another tenant.

Editing to respond back - This response from corporate clearly shows just how little corporate know of what's going on here.. the management will half attempt a "fix" or try to put gag orders on people to save face.. this is by far the worst place we have rented while traveling for my husband's job and this is our 5th state in 4 years.. to get back on topic only one of the water mains were fixed there are still water mains in the complex with insect larva and algae growth there.. I would be more than happy to take updated videos with date and time to show the problem still is there.. Nothing of concern gets done from management or corporate.. Before renting here just decide how much your heath and safety mean to you before signing a lease..

Worst place to attempt to reside. They’re so unprofessional. The lady Trish doesn’t know anything nor does she cares about what’s going on. I applied for an apartment but it got cancelled. So, I was told that I’d get my money back & it’s been almost 2 months still haven’t received my money back. They never informed me about a waiting list or anything. They just simply want the money & don’t care to explain or go the extra mile if something happens.

Ongoing Concerns Regarding Management at Hawthorne Meadowview

To Whom It May Concern,

I regret having to contact the Better Business Bureau once again regarding ongoing issues with the management at this apartment complex. However, it appears that this is the only way to ensure concerns are addressed in a timely and effective manner.

I have been a resident at Hawthorne Meadowview since it was previously known as Amber’s Place, moving into the community in 2019. Over the years, I have come to appreciate my apartment and the surrounding area, which I truly consider home. Unfortunately, my experiences with management have been increasingly difficult.

One of the first major issues I encountered was last year when I inquired about transferring to a smaller unit at the end of my lease. I was misled on three separate occasions and informed that I would be required to pay a $700 “transfer” fee, even if I waited until my lease expired. Only after submitting a complaint through the BBB was I contacted by management, who then claimed it was a misunderstanding. Now, a year later, I am facing another troubling situation.

Recently, there has been a rise in unusual and concerning activity within the complex. On multiple occasions, my Ring camera has captured unknown individuals at my door, including a woman who appeared to have been severely beaten. She was visibly injured and left blood in front of my entrance. Fearing for my safety, I did not open the door, but the police arrived and handled the situation. Following the incident, I submitted an emergency maintenance request to have the blood cleaned from my doorstep, but despite being marked as completed in the system, the request was ignored. The following day, I had to visit the front office in person to have the issue resolved.

During my visit, I spoke with Elizabeth, the property manager, and showed her the security footage. Her immediate response was to offer me a transfer to another unit. While I appreciate the offer, I had just moved into my current unit last year. Since my lease is now up for renewal and includes a rent increase, I submitted a counterproposal. Given the recent security concerns—including an incident involving a staff member unlawfully entering apartments and stealing property—I proposed remaining in my unit under the condition that my rent remains unchanged or is adjusted to match the current rates listed on the complex’s website. I sent this proposal on Tuesday and followed up with a phone call to Elizabeth, yet I have not received a response.

Additionally, I have several other concerns that further justify the need for my rent to remain unchanged.
1.    Valet Trash Service – Residents are charged $25 per month for a mandatory valet trash service that cannot be opted out of. While the only designated non-collection days are Friday and Saturday, I had trash placed outside on a Tuesday that was not picked up until Thursday.
2.    Maintenance and Entry Issues – I maintain a strict no-shoe policy in my home, with a sign at the entrance requesting all visitors to remove their shoes. Despite multiple complaints to the front office, maintenance personnel continue to enter my unit without shoe coverings, tracking dirt across my carpets. This is especially concerning given the recent incident involving blood outside my door. Just this week, a maintenance worker entered with dirty boots during routine service, disregarding my policy.
3.    Security and Unauthorized Entry – The most alarming concern is the recent case of a staff member entering units without permission and stealing from residents. Given this serious breach of trust, it is unacceptable for management to justify a rent increase when they have failed to maintain a secure living environment.

I hope to receive a prompt response regarding these matters, as well as my lease renewal request. I look forward to your cooperation in addressing these ongoing concerns.

Leasing office staff has a nasty attitude every time I call for information. (Ms.Cendosha)Apartment complex has a pest control problem and gets angry when trying to receive services on fixing that matter and work orders. Have issues reaching out to tenants about important issues regarding account information etc. I am no longer a resident.
