I used to live in this neighborhood for three years and still have some close friends there. I recently visited my friend for brunch, and as I was leaving, I took out her trash. While throwing away the trash, an employee saw me and gave me a suspicious look as if I was stealing something while helping out. You're just an employee there; you don't own the place. There's no need to act like a little security guard. If you don't work there, maybe you can't afford to live there! Get a life, hilly bill

I can't find anything negative to include in my review. I am a senior (in need of a partner) I am not from Mobile. I have lived in Springhill about two years. I was in Somerby for close to five and senior living at The Highlands beats it in every way. Consider the affordability (almost half), the outdoor grills, the dog park, a beautiful pool, the gym, sauna and on and on.
The front office is manned by three wonderful ladies that always have the time to make you feel as welcome as family. No problem is a problem. No appointment is needed. They are professionally friendly.
The 24 hr. Latte machine, a beautiful lounge or just a quiet room, a spa and many other features. It is all kept clean.
The almost weekly guest affairs are professionally hosted by the staff, not relying on the tenants.
My unit has two decks, bright and roomy. If there is a problem with the unit there is a maintenance staff that can absolutely fix anything within two hours - not a Somerby two month if ever.
There are a lot of younger tenants. And they greet me regularly, usually by my name. After five years I had very few social encounters at my previous residence. This is a HOME.
I have traveled a lot since losing my wife and Highlands at Springhill is as close to being HOME as I have felt in a long time.

I love living here!! It's a bit pricey but the amenities are incredible and it is such a relaxing environment. The office staff has always been extremely responsive if I have a question or need anything. I have personally had no issues with my apartment. I wish the windows weren't so thin because they don't block sound very well but I never hear my neighbors on either side of me. The apartment layout is great and there are lots of closets/storage which I like. The spa is great after a long day, and the saltwater pool is super nice as well. The coffee machine is a great perk too. The office also regularly has events/giveaways which are fun!! I was reading through the other 1-2 star reviews and I am very surprised, they might live in a different building but my experience could not have been more different. I almost didn't move here because of a few reviews from a year or two ago, I'm glad I didn't listen to them because it has been nothing but a great experience!

Update: I moved out a few years ago and accidentally sent an important package to Highland because it was a saved address. Hope was SO helpful and kind and managed to track down the package and got it to UPS! I continue to be so impressed by their staff and I miss it here a lot. They care about their residents even years later.

Absolutely amazing! My husband and I have lived here for 1.5 years so far and absolutely love it!! Highland at Springhill is not only stunning, it has fantastic amenities, in a centrally located area, always clean and has the absolute BEST staff that work in the office and in maintenance! They truly make it home with events for all residents and a constant warm and friendly environment. It is by far the best apartment in the Mobile Bay area!!

I have lived here for 3 years now and although the apartment offers amenities, I have been completely let down by their management in regard to safety concerns. For the price you pay to live at these apartments, they promise luxury living & safety but do not uphold those standards. I am from a much bigger city (in comparison to Mobile), have lived in numerous big cities alone, and I have had more incidents at this apartment complex than any other city in my short time here.
1.) My catalytic converter got cut out of my car while parked underneath a camera and inside the ‘gated community’. I asked for the camera footage which they would not provide and instead told me to “next time park by the doggy park”. To add to this, they did nothing to help ease my concerns of safety or prevent this from happening again to future guests.
2.) I requested pest control services which came in to service my apartment, only to have my apartment left open while I was not home for five days straight. Either management did not uphold code in entering my apartment with members of outsourced services, or both parties together failed to ensure the apartment was secured before departure. When brought to their attention, again, no responsibility was assumed on their part and instead management replied with “ we will remind the technicians to lock up next time.”
3.) I was stopped by an unknown vehicle at 1 AM ( we come back from road trips late) with green lights on top of their car who claimed to be the security guard. I am absolutely fine with the property being monitored by security personnel (due to reasons above) however management failed to notify their guests that they would be providing this service and who this security guard would be. Again, extremely unsafe for all residents to be ‘pulled over’ by unknown vehicles late at night, especially young females.
I hope these concerns are addressed in a more thoughtful and proactive way for future guests who choose to live here, and that upper management understands that safety of their guests that are paying an arm & a leg to live here should be their number one and UPMOST priority.

4-year resident here. Living at Highland at Springhill was the best apartment experience I had. I was a medical student in Mobile for four years so my values may be different from yours but there are many other medical students and physicians-in-training that live here, as well as other professionals both in the healthcare field and in other arenas. The price got high alongside market values over the years but was worth it to me because this is a safe community. I was able go for runs around the area any time of day or night and not be worried about crime, and ended up doing my first marathon because I spent so much time running around the area and on the high-quality treadmills that have workout planning features that make getting what you want out of the workout a breeze. The complex is gated and monitored well, so usually you will only find residents, employees, guests, and visitors here. The gates have always worked in the time I have been here (except if they are working on them or something temporarily). The maintenance staff here is unlike anything I have ever seen. GOATed is the best term to describe those guys. Same crew all four years I was here, and they rock at what they do. If you have a problem, they come in and solve it almost instantly and would explain the underlying cause when I was curious so I could understand and prevent what led to it in the first place. They seem to just "get it" when it comes to keeping this place up and running and that is exactly what they do. Landscaping is also beautiful with an assortment of flowers and shrubbery growing year-round. The office staff are commendable too. Each one of them has a great attitude and know their stuff. They know how this place works, and they help you and make your life easy when it comes to explaining how the lease works or giving tours or explaining how to use the amenities (which worked). They're always very kind and knew me which was nice because this is a big place, so I appreciated it. They are also planning fun social events or having special treats down in the office that can make your day. Valet Trash pickup is such a blessing, but if you want to take trash yourself, there is a compactor on site. They regularly get the buildings cleaned and I can't remember a time where I thought anything except how clean the common spaces were. The trash being picked up every night is not an easy job, and I appreciated their hard work late in the day/evening. I don't have a dog but the people who do seem to love it. It's a great place for dogs because of the park, and like I said earlier, this area is great so you can walk them outside the complex and have a great time. This place is quiet and safe in Mobile. I will say that I was on the fourth floor facing the interstate and would hear sirens and engines at times, but it was never anything that bothered me too much. The gym and sauna/spa amenities rival the quality of a gym membership and in a lot of ways are better because unless you are an Olympic lifter, there is nothing you can't do in the gym and recover in the wet sauna, hot tub, or dry sauna, so you can save money by working out here and not miss out on anything. There's an on-demand fitness service that I'd use occasionally, but I mostly followed my own plans, so my opinion is relatively uninformed on that except that there were dance classes on it that I thought were fun to do with friends. There is a coffee machine with coffee, tea, and hot cocoa in the office available 24/7, the business center has a printer, you do not need to pay for very fast internet as it is included, and maintenance takes care of virtually any problem you could imagine in your apartment. They did fix my AC one time just minutes after it went out late on a Friday afternoon just minutes after it went down. I never got charged for anything other than rent here and when I lost my keys there was a replacement fee. It was equidistant from the COM at USA and USA Health Hospitals, so my drive was about the same to either, both less than 10 minutes. In all, fantastic place.
